In RI you can't drive without shoes on, they ticket you.

You can't NOT have your license/reg/insurance, they can arrest you.

Some laws are stupid, other's aren't. I got pulled over today in West Warwick on New London Turnpike. I was doing 32 in a 25, and I WILL give the cop this, he had a KICKASS hiding place. I drive by him I KNEW he was gonna pull me over. So I'm calmly going along and 30, and NO one is in front of me or behind me, he flips his lights, I turn onto a sidestreet and he turns behind me.

Comes over and asks for my license and reg. No problems there, I had them ready for him with my insurance card. (Why they call it a card I dunno its a piece of paper here in RI).

Then he says
"Who inspected this car?"
Me: "Paul Bailey's Dodge sir, in July of 05."
Him: "Do you realize that you can't have this tint on the windows?"
Me: "Well Officer, I got the tint in March of 05, and it was inspected a few months later with it on, I thought the back windows were okay to have tint on"
Him: "Well they told you wrong."

So I could tell he didn't believe me. He goes back to the car and I KNEW I was getting a ticket, I heard him radio'ing for the court date. Me being the friggin paper collector (ask RIPSIGUY, every reciept for every modification, every RO, price sticker, financial paperwork on the car is IN my glovebox) that I am, I pull out the reciept from the tint dated 4/5/05 (I was a month off), and the inspection certificate that says 7/1/05.

He comes back over to the car, and I politely show him the reciept with my name and adress on it, and my inspection certificate. The next convo went as follows:

"Officer, see I got the tint on April 5th, sorry I thought it was March, yet they still inspected it in July, and told me that it was okay to have".
Him: "**** I didnt even have to WRITE this ticket. Well, I can't take it back now. So heres what Im telling you to do. Go to the court date on April 6th at 5:00PM at the West Warwick Town Hall, bring those two pieces of paper with you. I'll call this in as a dismissal, but I'll be there to dismiss it for you. Its not your fault if they said that you could have it."
Me: "Damn! I didn't think the papers would make a difference!! I'm sorry! Okay so just show up and plead not-guilty?"
Him: "Yes ma'am, by the way....this is a pretty damn nice car you have."
Me: "Thanks officer have a nice day!"

Happiest I've ever been. That dealership caused so much hell for me with DCX, nearly got my warranty voided by lying to them about my car. And now...they lose their inspection license. SCORE!!!! ONE FOR THE HOME TEAM!!!

I get out of tickets like theres no tomorrow. Well I figured I'd share my ticket story with you.

Michigan is better. No emissions testing and no car inspections.

Colorado does require emissions . . .except the county I live in, Weld. They don't require tint inspections either, or not that I am aware of. I haven't ever had to do that, but then again, I've never had legal tint either
