Default EBC settings question

Okay call me retarded but Im still not entirely sure how this thing works.

Greddy Profec-B Spec II

I installed my S2 WGA tonight, here were my previous settings in high, which was spiking 19-20 and holding around 18psi to redline:
Boost: 58%
Set Gain: 35%
Warning: 200
Warning: L.20%
Peak: 192
Peak: ON

On the WGA about 3.5/4 threads are showing, when I bought it I was told it was at 0 pre-load.

Installed it tonight, kept the heatshield off, went for a ride with the setting on High. Gave it 1/2 throttle (slightly less) at 32mph in 3rd gear. HOLY BUCKING FLUTTERING BRONCO, the boost gauge nearly did a 360, so I shut down PRONTO, since this was nearly instantaneous.

Im running it in low mode right now which is only spiking 13-14 to be on the safe side until I fix whatever the hell is wrong.

Now I have a mapclamp in, which isnt set to anything other than a clockwise click as though it were brand new. I think I'm going to take it out for now just because I feel part of the bucking is due to a lean mixture. Along with the fact that the ends of the plugs are pure white (a sure sign of running lean) I was getting a wideband, but the person selling it to me crapped out on me. So I think taking it out wouldn't hurt it any, I can always put it back in later. If anything it'll help it.

Heres the engine mods:
S1
S2 WGA
Mopar BOV
3" Straight Exhaust
MSD 8.5mm wires
NGK Iridiums gapped to .040
Greddy Profec-B Spec II EBC
AEM SRI
Fan-Switch

I guess what Im really asking is, WTF do I set the damned EBC at...Im so confused.

I think you pretty much know what is wrong. Good job on the plug check. On your mods list, I do not see that you have upgraded your injectors unless you forgot to list them. I think you should consider doing so. I, as of this moment, have not played with any aftermarket ebc. As a tech on diesels (which are all turboed these days) I only get to play with factory stuff and my car is not that far modded, but hopefully soon. So I can not claim to know anything about your new toy. As a mechanic and someone who knows what he knows about things I'm guessing your initial assumption is dead on. If you figure it this way; the mopar stage 2 allows for boost levels around 19 psi. The engineers then saw fit to upgrade the fuel system with bigger injectors to keep up with all the extra air now being forced into the engine. Your ignition timing may also be too advanced. When you increase boost, you have to decrease timing considerably. I do not know what is exact for you, but something in the low 20's BTDC would be in the ball park I believe. Any Guru's feel free to throw your 2 cent's in. You wont hurt my feelings. You may also want to tighten the plug gap. Denser air = more resistance across the air gap. Try .035.

Sorry I can't help ya with the actual EBC settings. That is where I'd have my nose in a book, or be on the phone with thier tech support.

No fuel mods yet, but if I can get this right I dont think Ill need them right yet.

Okay heres my to-do list.

1. Remove/Cap the red Tip sensor line from the solenoid and the UPP Cold Side
2. Remove/Cap the white Tip sensor line from the Tip itself, and cap it on the solenoid
3. Attempt to re-gap the plugs to .032 from .040
4. Re-check the settings on LO, set the High settings to match once LO is perfect, and work my way up from there, instead of working up from 0.

With the new wastegate your boost setting is way to high at 58%...Try setting it to like 40% to start with.
Here is my settings with the AGP wastegate:
Boost: 40%
Set Gain: 1/2 of the boost setting or 25% which ever is higher...so 25%

If I understand your problem correctly than the new wastegate is just allowing you to boost that high much easier than you used to. Try this and hopefully you can get back to where it used to be.

Yeah Im almost 100% positive thats what it is.

What Im NOT sure about is if I should tune the WGA first? Or if I should work around the WGA, since the EBC controls the boost and not the wastegate itself.

I took the mapclamp out tonight, I just need to remove the lines for the TIP sensor which I'll probably do tomorrow when I get out of work at 3.

RX8Driver, did you notice a LOUD *** whistling sound coming from the engine (identical to that of a mack truck engine whistle under accel) after you installed the WGA? Or did ANYONE notice this? Its so obnoxiously loud, but it sounds amazing. The only other time I've heard something similar is on my friend Jeff's car which has a GT3076R turbo in it with a TON of supporting mods.

As far as tuning the WGA...I think in your first post you said it is spiking around 13-14 in lo mode...so I would go ahead and tune the EBC off of that.

I have not heard a whistling sound coming from the WGA like you describe. The only whistling I hear is from the SRI.

Its WICKED loud, but I only noticed it AFTER I put the WGA in.

I turned all the settings OFF on the boost controller and went to see what it would spike....About 5-6lbs spike running entirely off the WGA. Should I try to get it to 0 pre-load? Which way should I turn it? Towards the firewall? I think if I can get that to 0, then I can work the EBC back up to where it should be.

I thinkj you shouold cap off the EBC, and tune the WGA to 12-15 pounds, then set up your boost controller.
