stock dyno???
Heck, lets's turn the **** on the way back machine even further
Back in 81, my high school electronics teacher (Mr Mcdonald, hell of a man) showed us some early transistor radios. One trans was a good thing , two actually did make a better radio. After that, more did NOT make a better radio. But the marketing guys knew that John Q. Public KNEW that more is better. So, you soon had 7 or 8 or even 9 transistor radios.
Hmmm, radio engineers say they only need two. Marketing guys say 7 will sell more radios. What to do. Easy, since transistors cost like .5 per piece, put 7 in. They are not part of the circuit, just tacked to the board. It's not fraud, the case does not say "SEVEN WORKING TRANSISTORS!!!!" Just "SEVEN TRANSISTORS!!!!"
How might this apply to cars? Think suspension drops, for instance
Or carb CFM rates.

I hear ya. I actually had a girlfriend "dump" me when I was like 12 because the transistor radio I got for Christmas only had 2 transistors and her's had 4....she thought I was behind the times (maybe I was).....nowdays kids still do the same thing, comparing computer power for example, when the makers do their best to confuse the issue by always coming up with new "standards of comparison"....(smoke/mirrors)....that's the way capitalism works, though......God Bless The USA!!!![sm=smiley20.gif]

I kinda tied it back in with that sentence. Kinda like the Roadrunner and the Coyote, I stopped before the cliff
True, my bad...lots of stuff going on here...had to pull dispatch at the PD today....not fun, people calling for police officers to change flat tires.......sure, lady....that's our #1 concern.....[:@]
The stock SRT-4's that were in the magazines being dynoed were 03's and the one in Sport Compact Car magazine was roughly the same as the others at 226 WHP. I have seen others that have varied from this though.
In the '60's car were rated with no accessories what so ever, not even with an exhaust, but with headers (not even the stock exhaust manifolds). The were not rated SAE net until mid 1971, in the 60's and earlier the were Gross ratings and not Net. Net ratings are done with all the accessories in place and a full exhaust system. This is why you will notice almost a 100 horsepower drop from 1971 to 1972 in the exact same or similar engines.[sm=smiley2.gif]

My first new car, a '69 VW Bug, was rated at 36HP (S.A.E. net) according to the sales booklet which I still have....maybe the O/S cars got it first....[sm=smiley5.gif]

So has anyone had a stock srt4 dynoed?
So has anyone had a stock srt4 dynoed?
Go forth and read
I can't pull all the threads back here. Any questions, feel free. And also feel free to ignore the few 04 dynos up in the 240+ range, either bad correction factors or other squierrly stuff, like "well, I DID have the spring mod, but it had no effect"
