Wheel hop is evil.

Wheel hop is the first demise of your tranny axle bearings.
Wheel hop can also kill your oil pan. (A friend of mine went through 5) amongst other things.

What can be done?
Traction Bars: $315 from glacialgraphics.net clear up ALL wheel hop according to reviews, these just came out, I dont have them so I cant speak for them personally, but its a triangulated setup vs the other setups that are out which are just one bar putting stress on the radiator support transferring the strain there.
Wider Tires: Dont run anything wider than a 215 on the stock wheel, a 215 is even pushing it.
Motor Mounts: Solid mounts/inserts, all depends on whether or not you enjoy vibration. Solid mounts create alot of increased cabin vibration, think of it as 10x worse than the vibration you feel right as the clutch is at is engagement point and you're not on the gas (stall). People in NE love the AGP Dogbones, PSI FIs, and Boomba mounts. Two motor mounts upper and lower, and a tranny mount.
Proper Launching: 1200rpm launches when stock with alot of feathering the clutch and keeping the gas pedal off the floor.

The turbo Neon Store, www.turboneonstore.com has the AGP dogbones and tranny mount for a good price. That's what I'm planning on doing.

Try this;

Roll back slightly, the revit and dump the clutch while still rolling backwards, keep it between 5k and 6k, use the hand brake to slow you down so your tires don't catch. Works great for a quick warm up, very little hop. Playing with tire pressure can help too.

It is a problem I have chased since I got my 03. The last part of the solution for me was the addition of
my Glacial Graphics traction bars. I also have racing prothane MM inserts and a Boomba Transmission
mount. Running on BFG 225/45/17 drag radials I can now launch at any rpm with no wheel hop! The guy who builds
the traction bars for Glacial is running stock axles with stage 3R and no problems with wheel hop or axles.

Wheel hop kills axles.

Wheel hop kills SRT-4s. See at least my statement on the Glacial Bars wasn't biased!!!

if you get the agp solid mounts you will need to use a jack to hold the motor in place for the
bottom and tranny mount. they help greatly with the wheel hop. i have no wheel hop now with
just the 3 mounts.
