That would also be worth it due to the dust storms (in southern Colorado) that pit the windshield as well as sandblast your paint....[:@]

I may be wrong here, but I don't think so. Inspection in MA says that if it is smaller than a dime (not a dime bag, for you innercity subscribers), then it passes inspection. I suspect that insurance rules would be similar. Luckily, (actually , unluckily for me) my last three chips haven't grown beyond the initial 1/8" heartbreaking point.

Synopsis;

Insurance = good if chip grows beyond dime sized..

Insurance = sucks if chips stay put and just annoy you!

just the .02 of a babbling idiot....

inspection differs from state to state. in ny if you have basically anything on your windshield they can fail you. most shops won't, but they could if they felt like it. so in states where there is zero tolerance issues then it's a good idea to have. i have full glass coverage on both my cars and it costs me something like $30 for a 6 month policy, well worth it for that one time that you do need it to me.....

If it is in the line of sight it will fail in pa. Remember now a claim is a claim and it will be held against you if you plan on shopping for insurance anytime soon. My insurance went from 3yr to 5yr accident/ticket forgiveness this year, the bastages are only in it for the cash.

Most insurance companies will waive the deductible if you have a chip repair done, this is without special galss coverage, I've had it done with a few different companies. Had the chip fixed, called to file a claim, faxed in a copy of the bill and they cut me a check.
