Default Chance to buy SRT-4... Should I?

Hi all. I put in an order for a new Caliber about 2 months ago. My dealer said it would only take 4-6 weeks. To make a long story short I'm sick of waiting. My dealer has two used SRT-4s sitting on their lot. One is a 2005 ACR with ~21,000 miles for $20,990 and the other is a base 2004 with ~32,000 miles for $17,990.

My question is... Are these decent prices and what kind of person would sell/trade in their SRT-4? Do you think the previous owners ran the **** out of them? Maybe felt something about to fall apart on it, and got rid of it? I have loved these things since they were announced but just now can finally afford one after graduating college. I'm assuming most of you on here treat your cars rather well. Do you think buying a used SRT-4 from a dealer is a way to go?

I'd haggle like crazy on the 05 ACR.....but even the 04 is a bit pricey...even with the low miles....

Personally, if you are dead set on getting one....I'd suggest getting the one you can get the best deal on.....but in all honesty....the SRT-4 Caliber should be out in the next 4-6 months....maybe you should wait?

i'd haggle on the regular one personally. not a fan of the acr myself. that car should go for 14-15k maybe, so if you can get it down to that then go for it. why wait for the caliber srt, i'm not impressed by that thing at all. and not to mention it's fugly as hell......

I agree on the caliber SRT-4, plus i need a car now. When i started car shopping the new caliber was the best thing for the money. And of course i couldn't find an SRT-4 anywhere. Now two popped up at the same dealer i was buying my caliber from. Now i'm torn.

My biggest fear is buying a car that is torn up. I have bought two used cars and they both had major problems with them about a year later. Granted they were from 1994 and 95 and i bought them for $1,500. I guess i'm asking how well do you think the previous owners treated these cars. What are the chances they raced stoplight to stoplight at every stoplight. What things should i look/listen for when givin them a test?

How well do you treat your cars on a daily basis?

I am the kid of person that is pretty quick off lights. Other than that the only time I "hot rod" is when I am racing someone. As for car care I check all fluids like every other day

Im hard on my vehicles but at the same time i take care of them.
Regular Oil / fluid / filter changes and if something breaks i fix it and i do my best to keep her lookin good.. inside and out.

BUT.... the difference between me and others may be "how" they are hard on their cars. Im only hard cuz i like to go fast and make her go when i need it.

Others my drive through / over all kinda shiz and hit that red zone (rpm) on too many occasions + tear up the clutch.

Only thing i can say is ask if you can take the car for a day. Usually if they see your serious about buyin it they will let you do it. When they let you drive it around...... feel it .... look at all..... and take it to a trusted mechanic to check. Inevitably when buying used youll find some flaws - its just what you want to deal with.

I feel that i got lucky when i bough mine. I got an 04 with 28k on it for 17.5 (they wanted 19.5) - some may think thats much but i feel it was a decent price. She is in excellent shape with interrior like she just came off the show room floor. Allso no mods... that tells me most likely that it wasent some young guy who owned it and ragged it out. She runs good looks good and feels good.
