Default Widest Tires??

I am having a lot of trouble getting any grip in first gear..

i'm sure every one else has this problem so my question is what kind of tires are best for grip.. or what are the widest tires/rims that can be put on a stock SRT-4?

Welcome to the club, non-existent traction that is. Motor mount inserts will help some. 215 is the widest you can safely go on stock wheels most say. As for what kind...that will start a really long post. I'm going to get some nice wheels to put some type of 225 on my car.

Modernperformance.com has a lot of parts for the SRT. Installation varies on what kind of mounts (inserts or new dog bones) you purchase.

I am looking at getting new dog bones and new 17 x 8 rims covered with 235 45 17s. If that doesn't get rid of the wheel hop, not sure what will.

Traction Bars help, as do motor mounts. Triangulated traction bars from glacialgraphics.net are the best ones out to date.

As far as tires on your stock wheels, the 205s that are on there are too wide as per tire mfrs recommendations, people run 215s, but its very very dangerous on a 6" wheel.

Upgrade you wheels to 7s or 7.5s and go from there.

That wouldn't be biased, would it? Just kidding.... Looks like a sweet setup. You got em yet LSP?

Nah I don't have them yet. Its not biased at all....what those bars do versus the other ones that are out there make a world of difference.

Other bars use the radiator support almost as a frame support and put alot of extra stress on it, having a triangulated setup redirects the torque where it SHOULD be, and not on the radiator support. I'm going by customer reviews on that one. They're pricey, but worth every penny from the mouths of the people who've bought them.

im looking at stock struts because they were rubbing on 225 50 17 so i had to buy an extra set of tires with lower width.
