Default SRT motor = Kompressor?

My friend who has an 05 SRT told me the motor is the same as the Mercedes Kompressor. Is that correct?

the srt-4 motor is basically a mexican 2.4L stratus motor with upgraded internals. the srt-6 crossfire is the mercedes motor.

My friend said that only the block is Dodge. All the internals(head, pistons, crank, rods, etc.) are Benz except the turbo(Mitsubishi).

Perhaps I mistated him. Sounds like he has done his homework. Here's a cut and paste from an email.

The SRT block is 2499 cc which is everyone else's 2.5 Block. Ported Compressor dual Cam Heads with special SRT Cams. all the Intercooler parts are Compressor except for the Misitbishi Turbo. The turbo is rated to be 25 psi max. that is a lot of pressure. Special Getreg transmission of which won't even fit into a normal Neon frame it has to be stretched for it to fit. Plus Benz tuned suspension parts.

For the record the 2002, 03 SRT were built to different specs then the 2004, 05 model years. I have only been expressing the 04/05 cars the older one may well be what they say on the forum...

Regardless, it's one hot little ride. Wish I had to funds...

ok so let's start....

the srt engine is exactly the same all three years, and there is no 2002 srt-4. the difference between the 03's and 04-05 is that the latter has the addition of an LSD and a different ecu map with larger injectors. mechanically they are identical and were not built to "different specs".

the frame is exactly the same in the srt-4 as in the regular neons. yes, the srt-4 uses a different tranny as the regular neon one wouldn't be able to handle the power. it's a t-850 tranny custom built for this application.

the motor itself....it was first used in this country in the pt cruiser in 2002. it's been used in mexico for their stratus for a number of years prior to this. the engine code on the srt-4 block is A855. the fmic on the srt is custom made by valeo.

tell your friend there to do his homework too, as there's no way in hell the 2.4L could ever come from a slk kompressor as they never offered that motor, or the 2.5 that he wants to claim that it really is. the kopmpressor has offered multiple engine sizes, 1.8, 2.0, 2.3, 3.0, 3.2, 3.5 and 5.0 motors. no 2.4 or 2.5L have been in these cars. the 2.3 would be the closest of these motors to the srt-4's 2.4L, it has a engine code of E23. the e23 has a bore of 90.9 and a stroke of 85mm. the A855 has a 87.5 bore and a 101.0mm stroke. the A855 has a displacement of 2429cc, not 2499 like your friend thinks.

the stock TD04 has a max efficiency of about 19psi, not 25.

the internals were custom designed by pvo/srt for the srt-4 block.

anything else you want to know? as has already been said, the CROSSFIRE motor is a mercedes motor, not the srt-4 motor. tell your friend again that he's wrong.

Thanks PSI as well. I had a friend tell me the same thing that the SRT-4 had the Kompressor engin in it as well.

I wonder were they are getting this idea/Info?? -- besides the crossfire.
