Default Tire Swap Question......

I was wondering will the stock KDWs fit on a 17x7 rim considering that the stock is x6? You see, I've only got 4100 miles on my baby, so the tires should have plenty of life left in them. The problem is my passenger front rim. I had a nail removed from a tire and dude RUINED MY RIM!!! It looks like he took a saw and just keyed my rim all the way around. Anyway, this gives me a good reason (to tell my wife.....hee hee.....) to get a new set of rims. I've already had my eye on a set of ICW racing 17x7s. I have the money for the rims without tires, but not with, plus my current tires are still brand new. So will they swap?

i believe that the kdws that came on the car were actually wider than the recomended width for the 6" rims. So I dont know that there would be a reason they wouldnt fit onto 7" definatly 6.5s without a problem. why not just get the rims and run out the life thats left on your kdws on the stock rims? but if you would want to part with the KDWs, how much tread depth is left and how much would you want for em?

They are wider than recommended, yes you can run them on a 7" wheel. The bead may be tough to seat, but you can do it.

I just want to run the KDWs for the time being to get a little more out of them than just 4k. I'm eventually going to go with some 225/45/17 BFG drag radials. Would it be safe to go 235/40s with a 7 inch width?

try tirerack.com, they have pretty good reviews on a lot of tires. and 215s is really pushing the limit for 6" width

Do not run 235s on a 7" wheel.

6" calls for 195
6.5" calls for 205
7" calls for 215
7.5" calls for 225-235

etc etc.....

sorry lil...

winniep i run 235-45-17's on a 7" wheel and have been for about a year now. no problems, no rubbing, awesome in the twistys (which i take hard) and way more grip then the stock tires.

you can kinda see the beef of the tire in this pic. i cant seem to find any of the stock on teh right and the new on the left. those are awesome comparison pics.

No issues at all? I'll still probably go with 225, but it's nice to know in case I change my mind
