It has been said that CAI's won't do much because once the air hits the turbo it doesn't matter what temp it is, it will be hot after....

As far as the K&N drop in, an aftermarket filter will always work better than the stock one (due to design and whatnot).....

Air hitting the turbo has nothing to do with it. It's all about air density. Cool air is more dense (contains more oxygen) so you get a better burn from your spark plug/gasoline.....

Research and make your choices - I have had the Mopar CAI since January... I just put on an AEM SRI. I observe intake temps (at the throttle body)... Lets put it this way, I have a Mopar CAI for sale.

But doesn't the turbo heat up the air/ make it less dense/ dissipate the oxygen before it reaches your spark plugs?

Also, Andy made a post about the temp difference between the CAI & the SRI.... Made some good points in it.... That is why he has a CAI for sale....

factory intake works great on these cars. I ran stock air box down to 11.372 on nitrous

Air is a poor conductor of heat/cold (double pane windows have air in them to help control temps) and it doesn't stay in the engine bay long enough to pick up a lot of heat......the dyno below shows the difference between a K&N CAI and a AEM SRI.....If I had $250 to play with, I might consider a CAI, but I don't want to tempt the Warranty Gods anymore than I already have.....

IMO the small difference between those two dynos could be shown on a car just the same with no change to the car at all.

One thing I wonder now that I've tested both personally is if the CAI would do better without the splash shield. With the splash shield in place the filter is basically completely boxed inside the fender...

Also, I wish I knew what the charge temps were before the intercooler.

I'd be taking the splash shield off, unless you have a lot of snow/rain or drive thru puddles alot.....

I still might try my Army buddy's mod to his SRT-4, taking out the driver's side fog light and putting a screen over it while running some clothes dryer vent tubing up to the stock air box.....
