My dealers oil change bay is separate from the regular garage because they advertise 30 minute oil changes....it's easy to step in and watch them work. I noticed that all the people in the bay look like they are in their teens and they also have other duties when they're not busy changing the oil.....like sweeping the lot, driving cars around, being parts runners, etc.. Think a certified Dodge mechanic is changing the oil on your new vehicle????? Think again!!!![:@]

Yep, the newbes and the ones that aren't certified are the oil change specialists.[sm=smiley36.gif] For my first oil change they can put in the regular dino oil, but the next one will be around the 5,000 mile mark and from that point on it will be 100% Mobil 1 synthetic.[sm=smiley14.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]

The main reason was availability, you can't go to...well....anywhere to get Amsoil. This and that I always previously used either Castrol GTX or Mobil 1 with great results. I didn't notice any kind of performance loss when I switched it from Amsoil over to Mobil 1, so I never had any regrets about it. I would love to switch my Roadrunner over to Mobil 1, but it hasn't nearly enough mileage on the engine (5,000 miles is the magic # for a new engines switch to synthetics) yet. Speaking of which, I need to get to storage and change the oil in it before I finally get it out to drive.

I just ordered 5 more bottles of Amsoil 10W-30 over the 'net.....much, much cheaper than what the Dodge dealer would charge me for synthetic oil.....[:'(]

I haven't heard of any. This next oil change will be my first one with Amsoil. I read some test results of it compared to Mobil 1 and Amsoil had better wear protection, but of course I'm not going to leave it in for over 3 months or 3,000 miles....

Ok. Amsoil is very difficult to get out here. guess i just stay M1.

hey, can i use an oil additive to it? or will it degrade the oil?

I remember the owner's manual specifically saying not to put anything "extra" in the oil....I doubt many of the additives mix well with synthetic oil. I know for a fact Amsoil makes it clear not to add anything.....I've got some of their booklets right in front of me...[&:]
