MBC vs. WGA?... don't they do the same thing?
I installed my WGA today and noticed that i can adjust the boost by loosening and tightening the nut that is on it.. why spend the extra money on a manual boost controller when you can just adjust the boost with a WGA?
The reason i see a MBC coming in handy is how easy it would be to adjust the boost.. just turning a **** vs. unscrewing the heat shield moving the nut then turning the **** on the end of the WGA
what other reasons are there to buy a boost controller when you have a WGA?

You can only tighten the WGA so far...
Really if you only want to run 15-17psi, then just running the WGA will do you fine. If you want to run more than that then you'll want a MBC.
Think of the WGA as setting a "base" pressure and a Boost Controller as an increase to that base pressure. However, the further you get from the base pressure with a MBC, the more spikey and inconsistant the boost will be.
Using the arm on the WGA to adjust boost is fine, however you shouldn't go more than a few psi over the spring weight in the WGA. The proper way to adjust the WGA is to change the spring inside of it.

do you have any pictures of this spring that i should adjust? i didn't get any instructions for my WGA so i am doing it the way i thought it was suppsoed to be done.. if you know of any directions on how to adjust it let me know
thanks
thanks
never mind.. i did a search on WGA adjust and pulled up an old topic about adjusting the WGA.. aparantly i need to preload it to 4mm then adjust it from there.. would it be okay if i took the heat shield off and left it off until i was done adjusting the WGA.. its such a pain to put on and off every time
My heat shield has been off for at least 2 1/2 months w/ no problems. I did notice a little higher temp. when running it hard. Just get it where you want it then reinstall. I'm putting mine back on in about an hour or so before I head off to the track.

Be careful with leaving the heat shield off.....your coilpack and plug wires may not be too happy with you later.
Your best bet is what MChat said, get it comfy with the adjustments with JUST the wga alone, then run with the MBC and WGA. And leave the fine tuning to your MBC, not the nut on the WGA....and leave the heatshield on....

Well I said I was going to put the heat shield back on, other than the fact that it's ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!! You think it would be OK to leave one or two of the bolts out of it? Man what a pain........
