Default Just got smoked........kind of........

Well, just got back from the track. I got second place in Mopar street radial class, and got eliminated in import class.......both loses to the same car. It was an '04 SRT-4 supposedly with only a K&N short ram, AGP WGA, and AGP dogbones. Dude could drive, I'll give him that. He had consistent .7 reaction times which being heads up is what got me. I was running slightly faster times, he just had a lot more track experience. He BARELY EVER spun. Me on the other hand, my new stg 2 I'm not used to is a freakin' handfull. Even on DAB 2, 1st and 2nd gear are pretty much useless, it's a complex dance between spin, spin, wheel hop, spin, wheel hop, wheel jump, hop...........you get the picture. I bested my stg1 time by not even a tenth. That is just sad. Every time, dude would kill me off of the line, then I'd start running him down after getting in 3rd gear, but 1000 ft just wasn't quite enough room. I did best my mph by 6-7 mph across the line.....which means the power is there. From a roll on the difference between Stg1 and 2 is night and day. I have got to learn to launch this beast. First thing I'll do I guess is get some motor mounts, control arm bushings, and drag radials on 8 inch rims. Surely that will make a difference. Jury is still out on the traction bars, but will deffinitely look into it. If I could have just gotten traction I would have annhialated the competition. Oh well, just have to settle with the second place trophy. If anyone has some launch/traction tips for stg 2, please drop em' off! On the plus side, I did eat up a 350z and a Ram SRT-10. I have to give it to dude who bested me though, he could launch like a champ. I.ve just got to get used to this newfound power. Stage 2 is a level above what I'm used to............I like it. Stg 3R on the horizon for sure............ONLY after getting used to my stg 2 for a year or so and fixing my frickin' traction problem.

Yeah, I have a hard enough time launching in stock condition, let alone with the aftermarket stuff I have added. For traction, new mounts or dog bones help tremendously along with the DRs. What are you doing with the stg 1?

Dude, Sorry to hear about your traction probs. But on the other hand its awesome to hear about the power. I can't give you any major help. It sounds like youve got some good ideas though. I was wondering what other supporting mods you have to go with the stage 2? I have an 04 SRT4 with occ, mopar bov and sts, apex tt, and aem sri. I am going to the dealer monday to get stage 2 pcm, wga, and injectors. I just wanted to hear from someone else with newfound power and see if Im missing anything. Thanks and good luck finding a cure for your beast.

All of my mods to date:
Stage 2 w/ turbo toys

NGK Iridium plugs 1 range colder gapped about .038
Mopar BOV
Mopar STS
Apexi TT
MM inserts
Mopar Borla cat back

if you still had the boost controller you sold me you could adjust the low for 1st gear launch and high for 2nd-5th gear.. i did that and it helps off the line 100%

btw thanks for the awesome deal!!

glad to hear about the stg2!

Glad you're enjoying the EBC. Good to see someone got more out of it than I did. I think I'm gonna have a (light) friend ride with me down the strip and I'll launch on DAB 1 and as soon as I get 1/3 into 2nd gear I'll have him/her dial it to 3 real quick! LOL
