mopar upgrades
I have a friend I have pretty much talked into getting a SRT-4 he was looking at a wrx because of mine but I just thought it fit what he wants better. Anyway he is young and not inclined to do much to the car for a while, when you buy the car can you get the dealer install the stage 1 or 2 and just add it to the price or do you need that up front?
Well, if you get the dealer to add it to the price of the car, you're going to be paying interest on that Stage 1 or Stage 2 for the term of the auto loan....that's money you can use for other mods....[sm=smiley5.gif]
I almost bought an SRT-4 recently...they said they would throw in the stage I/stage II upgrades in the financing...before I declined purchasing the car, I had the price down to 20,500 for the car + stage II + Mopar BOV, all installed...it was the last day of April, and the dealership was under quota, so they were able to "wheel and deal" a bit...hope this helps...

If it was my money I would agree but in his case his parents are buying him the car (lucky punk) and his mom said under $25k for the car of his choice so it would be easy for him to talk her into adding another $2k on the car for stage 2 than handing him $2k later. My only problem is if he gets a stage 2 srt-4 I will have to spend a small fortune if I want to keep up with him haha, I really do envy the speed of this neon but I still can’t see myself in one.

Well, I hope he learns the value of a dollar....sounds like you have. My first car was a '41 Oldsmobile I bought for $400....Yes it ran fine, this was in 1969.....I paid for it by bussing tables at the NCO Club at Lackland AFB, Texas. The back seat was HUGE!!! 'Nuff said......

Join the club. My last four vehicles were a full size Bronco, S-10 Blazer, and two Grand Cherokee Limiteds.
Have you driven one yet? Once I did, I bought within a week.

yeah about a month ago I drove a few cars rsx type-s srt-4 wrx wagon and sedan. if I got a srt-4 within the first week I would have to throw down another grand for some recaro seats that fit my large **** Im not even sure I could drive it a week without new seats and I was wanting to get out of FWD, the car seems like a pretty cool car but another thing if I got a 4 door car I would like to use the back seat and the one in the srt-4 was about the size of the integra. rsx was a awesome car but again FWD and not quite the pull I wanted (also wanted turbo) wanted something diffrent than the integra I had so I got the WRX wagon but I think the srt-4 will fit my friend great might as well help him out, my only worry is the dodge engine with 16 psi but dont seem to be a problem for anyone yet.
How old is this friend of your? A new driver with an SRT-4, especially with Stage 2, would not be a good combination. I take it your not too familiar with Mopars turbocharged past, so here's a bit of insight. In the '80's Chrysler Corperation produced more turbocharged cars than any other automotive manufacturer in the world. My Shelby Z with it's SOHC 2.2L Turbo intercooled engine with the Mopar Performance PCM which doubled the boost lasted well past 200,000 miles before a wrist pin clip broke causing the need for an engine rebuild. During the right conditions it would peg the 15 psi boost gauge. If anyone knows how to build good reliable turbocharged engines, it would have to be Dodge.[sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]
