stock boost for me was 2nd-5th gear 16-13 depending on weather
i think the lowest boost setting you can have on the stock wastegate is 7 or 8 psi and to do that get a boost controler. but you cant go lower than spring tension of your wastegate.

I guess im a bad father because im a family man and i dont have my boost turn down! I DONT NEED TO HAVE MY BOOST TURN DOWN TO REMEMBER MY BABY AND WIFE IS IN THE CAR LOL! i ALWAYS GO SLOW WITH THEM IN IT.SO IF SOMEONE HAS TO TURN THERE BOOST DOWN SO THEY DONT GET ON IT,MAYBE THEY SHOULDNT HAVE A FAST CAR.All my friends turn theres down when they want to save gas and when there just around town.Then by the *** it goes up very fast.People should learn how to drive a car slow once in a while or the car is not going to last very long LOL.

and on the putting in low octane gas that could work for what hes doing. i wouldnt do it, but persay hes teaching his 15 year old kid how to drive and doesnt want to have his car wrapped around a pole or over a curb.
