Default I need help PLEASE! Long story

I have a 2004 SRT-4 and i've been having TPS problems since i got the car. Let me tell the story. The first dealership i took it to they put some new ground wire on it and replaced the sensor (that was around 2000 miles on my car). Well maybe 5000 miles later this problem occured again and they just replaced the sensor. I had put a stage one pcm in my car and a few thousands miles later this problem occured and wouldn't go away. The dealer said my stage one was ruined. They said it had a bad tps circuit. Ok well i put the orginal pcm back in. Several months past now i'm in a different city and i took the car to a new dealer. They tried to blame me for adding some wire to the tps sensor and said it wasn't suppose to be there. My symtoms before i took the car in was the idle reving up to around 2000 rpm, which is a normal for a tps problem. Well they was throwing all kinds of warranty issuses with me and i told them that the other dealer delt with the tps and not me. Well they said my stock pcm has got a bad tps circuit now. And they said the pcm is on back order, and they'll put my car back together like it should be. I looked in the engine bay and they disconnected a blue wire from the tps to ground on my chassis. I still have a 123 engine code, because the circuit is bad. I took my car out last night and first of all it takes me two times to turn the igntion to start my car. My car won't boost past 6 pounds either.

My questions are:

Does that sensor or the pcm affect how the car starts?

Does that sensor or pcm affect the boost like it is doing to mine.

How is the TPS suppose to be hooked up? What wires go where? Should there be a blue wire going from the TPS to ground on my chassis?

I thought there was a fix from the dealership that took care of the TPS?

i don't know how much this will help you. there should be 3 wires coming off the TPS. from TPS terminal 1, a BK/LB wire goes to a splice which goes back to the PCM orange connector(C2) at terminal 27(sensor ground). TPS terminal 2 is a OR/DB wire that goes to the PCM (C2-21). this is your throttle position input. TPS terminal 3 is a OR wire that goes to a splice, then back to the PCM (C2-29). this is a 5 volt supply to the TPS. i guess that if something is wrong with either the TPS or the throttle blade inside the TB that it will effect how it runs. all the TPS does is send a signal back to the PCM showing what position the blade is in(kind of like a dimmer on a light switch, the more you turn it, the more power goes to the light). the computer uses this signal and a bunch of others to know what's going on in the motor. i wouldn't put the BL wire to chassis. i would hook the sensor up like the manufacturer wanted it to be. there might be something wrong with the throttle body because if the blade is messed up, then the TPS won't send back the right signal. i would check all the wires and make sure they are hooked up right. you could also take a volt reading to make sure you're getting 5 volts to the sensor. the dealer should be able to figure out what's wrong, even though everything is all computerized, even your boost.

Thanks i'll check it out. So the first dealer hooked something up wrong then, because they had a 4th cable tapped in running to ground. So you think that can cause my car to boost the way it is?

well i believe a ground is a ground, but since it is going to a sensor, you get into the world of electronics. that is a very technical type of electricity, not to mention automotive electronics. i am an electrician, but that stuff still throws me off sometimes. if the sensor is bad or isn't installed properly, the computer gets a funny reading, which will make everything run funny. since the computer controlls your boost, if it doesn't know what's really going on inside your motor, your boost will be effected. it seems like there is a number of possible causes to this problem: bad throttle body, bad TPS(or improperly installed), bad wiring, bad computer, or just bad luck. i hope any of this nonsense helps.

i had a related tps issue on 04srt, typical symptoms. i think it was the 3rd trip to the dealer they actually replaced the tps. it didnt fix the problem either (although i also got some free new plugs and wires outta the deal on my first trip there) tuns out to be some bad wiring. it took many trips to the dealership but they eventually got it right. best of luck, hopefully your dealers can eventually win the guessing game they like to play.

oh ya, each time i left (cept one when they ordered a part) they said it was running fine. i made it a couple miles from the dealership and was like 'ahh hell no it aint' and turned around and took that bitch right on back. running fine is it? i dont think some dealerships see too many srt4s or something cuz dang!

Hey gang, after reading your problems with the TPS (I thought my problem was my BOV or turbo) I think my problem is the same as yours. My dealer also can't find the problem after 3 tries and even suggested I bring the car to another dealer. I need to find one I can trust.[]

mine, they replaced the harness, sensor, plugs.
I am pretty sure the harness would have corrected the issues.
it took 3 visits and that was with me going in saying fix my tps problem on the first visit (thanks DF).
