If his "fix" is to pull out the bulb, then you should wait until you have time for them to find the problem and fix it properly. This way you would have you car for Thursday, and have time to contact the Service Manager, or someone from the Corporate offices explaining to them how a mechanic wants to pull the bulb to fix a problem that THEY created. I'm sure they would agree that that is not a good idea.

Good luck.

If he actually used a T fitting to hook both oil sending units into the same hole, then it should be functioning fine. It sounds like the wire is disconnected from the sending unit.

I agree with RR. there must be a wire disconneced or grounding out. check the wiring. Also, try disconnecting the neg batt cable for a few min. the ECU will restart ya whole elec system.

Let us know the turn out
Peace

The tech had said he had turned the car on and off like 4 time to make sure the light when off in the service bay but when i went to drive away it came on and stayed on. I am very not comfortable just having him pull the light, the light is the for a reason and for him to even think about doing the means he need more training on an srt-4 before he is allow to work on his next project, what do u guys think? He better have a good answer for y this light isnt going off and u better believe when my baby is back there i will be right there making sure he doesnt take that short cut and just pull the bulb.

I agree with you on that mechanics failures in his field of work. If it is just a bulb that is for a dedicated oil light only, then no biggie since you have an oil pressure gauge. Just pay attention to your oil gauge once in a while. BTW: The oil light doesn't come on until the oil pressure drops below around 3-5 psi anyway, so by the time the light comes on (in normal use) your screwed. [sm=smiley5.gif]

I agree with, RR. What does the average range on oil pressure for the SRT-4? Though, thats not an excuse; I wont except that light bulb B.S. If they did the work, they better fix the problem... or call the BBB and get a lawyer.
Make sure you have the work order document of the work done on ya car...

Good Luck

average preasure (judgeing from my engine flush readings) is about 25-45 psi at idle to about 3500 rpm...and it is pretty stable after that.

But below 15 PSI is danger time for oil preasure in a car that needs oil to cover the new tolerances in the 2.4

I owuld look under the car...the oil reasure sending unit (if Im not mistaken) is just about directly above the front endge of the oil pan. Iy should be right there on the block, in plain sights...if it looks funny, go back to the shop and ask to talk to the SHOP FOREMAN and no one else! The shop foreman has his *** on the line if you are not satified...and you can count on that guy to be truthful in his diagnosis and repair. There may be some shady techs out there, but you can rest assured that the foreman is trustworthy.
