Freak SRT-4? Dyno monster?
She's a runner no doubt, but now I have even more evidence that she may be not normal. I took my car to the local strip at Martin Mi. last night for the "street wars" event they have been doing lately. As you would guess, this is drag racing and the cars are all supposed to be street legal. They have a bunch of other activities such as motorcycle wheely contests and burnout contests and a dyno contest. Well I couldn't race due to having my 11 year old boy with me and not wanting to leave him watching by himself but hey! the 20 dollar dyno pull was just too much to resist. So I did that. Then like several of the onlookers who like to throw around betting numbers, I was amazed with the results. My little stage zero yanked out a peak hp of 242.4 at 5782 rpm and peak torque of 260.4 at 3065 rpm! Hell yeah! The owner of the dyno was quite impressed as well. The previous run was some guy in a Ford f-350 with a power suck 7.3 that made an equally un-amazing 201 hp and like 365 ft lbs torque. LOL. I was and am still pretty jazzed. Becuase it was a budget promo deal, they did not get A/f ratios and all that and I only did one pull. It was from 2000 to 6250 rpm and in 3rd gear (as per the owner) The Dyno was a Dyno-mite portable unit that uses a friction brake to simulate load. Pretty cool little gizmo. He could only do 2 wheels and not 4, but that worked for me. It was hot at about 90 degrees and my engine had about a 2 hour cool down from the trip to the strip before I did the pull. For those of you who do not already know me, my car is a stage 0, 2004. I have an OCC, a coil heatshield, Iridium plugs and a K&N filter in the stock airbox. I also run Mobil 5w30 engine oil and redline synthetic trans fluid. That's it. And yes that is front wheel horsepower uncorrected. Also she pulled over 230 hp from 5023 rpm to 6162 rpm and averaged well over 250 ft lbs from 2846 rpm to 4600 rpm!
Freak or monster?
I say both!

I say both!
Sounds pretty impressive! Post those numbers on a mustang forum!
Just be aware that dyno's vary from model to model and humidity, gasoline, tire pressure, etc make a difference. I'd say you had your s**t together.......

Yeah you guys gotta let me know what is normal. There is another Srt-4 owner on a local forum that I also posted on that says very nonchalantely that these numbers are quite common. Now I have belonged to this forum for about a year and I have not seen too many postings about stock power levels but what I do remember seeing is that high 220's to mid 230's is commonplace for stock. Sure, I am not totally stock with iridium plugs and a K&N filter, but if they are worth a good 10+ hp then I need to be collecting some sponsorship money right now! You know what I'm saying? This knowledge of what a stock car does is important to me because my local forum is an all brands forum (kzoorice.com) and there are very few SRT owners on it who have practical knowledge of such things, but many influential honda driver/potential Dodge converts. I also believe that the gent that said this was so common, never had his car dynoed stock. I also know that his car is far from stock now, so he would have little proof, but we are also both members of a third forum (the midwest srt forum) and I have posted there as well. My goal here would not be to start any kind of forum rivalry or anything but just to gain some real statistical ammunition and it should be known that I love you guys like brothers and sisters and I much prefer the personalities on this forum to the other forums I frequent because you guys are friendly, helpful and community minded. That is something that is sorely lacking on my local forum sad to say. I should and will create a new post for all to post stock and modded dyno numbers. Look for it.
Thanks,
Matt
Thanks,

thats real high. damn good to. i remember my dyno was like 280 but then they added the sae correction and it was dropped down to 264. just a thought to think about. if that was already corrected you broke it in good.
The published dyno results are between 223 WHP and 246 WHP from various sources with the lower being an '03 and the greater being an '04, but they all fall somewhere in between.

make sure that the correction number is right when you dynoed your car. I pulled 234whp, 268wtq with a cat-back, short ram intake and ptp check valve....when i posted my numbers i got the freak srt-4 thrown at me a bunch. Everyone told me to check to see if they put in the right correction number.
