spark plugs/wires
The closer you gap your plugs however, you will notice a lumpier idle. Well I did anyhow. Once I moved them from .052 to .045 I didn't notice it too much, but when I moved them down to .030 I noticed it bigtime.
Dusty is right, they make a HUGE difference in the car, and for the amount of money you wouldn't think so, but its an all around benefit for the car, and you the driver, when you have a smoother idle, and a smoother drive because your plug wires can withstand the heat.
Another beneficial buy is a coilpack heatshield. For a few extra bucks you can actually put your hand on your coilpack after driving, so you KNOW its not being cooked, and neither are your wires.

You might want to try Howell Automotive. They are a sponsor here and you might get a better price if they have them. Otherwise, try Modern Performance...
If you're talented you could make one, it's only a piece of metal........

You can get everything from them. If you have any performance places near you you can pick up the wires and plugs through them. I got my coil and wires at Jegs and my plugs at Advanced Auto (normally I would go to Auto Zone, but they couldn't get the plugs I wanted soon enough if at all). You will have to order the heat shield if you want it, but the MSD wires are made for high heat if you don't want to get the heat shield.
what does a closer gap on a spark plug do again and i know there a re some that dont come pre gapped so if you wanted to change the gap after you installed them can you take them out and do that and last thing i still cant find a coilpack heatshield i mean maybe i dont need one but it may be good since it does get to be 120 degrees some times if anyone out there can help it would be nice.
A closer gap creates a stronger spark that is smaller. A larger gap creates a longer weaker spark. The changing of the plug gap is based mostly on the ignition systems energy output, but the induction has it's impact as well. Generally you want the largest possible gap, but with increased compression or forced induction it can sometimes be necessary to close the gap to keep the spark. So unless you are planning on lots of mods just keep it at what the manufacturer recommends or slightly under.
