Default ? about C.A.I.'s

Have I read in previous post that you guy's say that the stock computer will override boost and other mod's? Just put in the K&N CAI, (the offroad version they claim.- It has molded plastic tubing instead of metal), anyway, at first the boost jumped up higher but now seems to be down 1lb of boost less. ( Used to jump to 14 then down to a steady 12 when it was stock, now it's 11lbs. Any thoughts? I have tightened all my hose clamps. Stage two is ordered so maybe the new PCM will fix it.
Also, Is it supposed to sound like a high speed rotary tool when your on it after installing the new intake?

according to my boost gauge I'm at 15-16 Psi until about 5500 RPM's then it spikes to about 11 Psi and I have the K&N installed.

I haven't checked mine in a while, but the last time I did I was getting 15 psi boost. I've had my K & N Typhoon CAI for a while and have never had any boost loss. Besides, it isn't possible to loose boost on the intake side of a turbo, but it is after that through the intercooler and all.

How are you guy's getting that much more boost? Is it a constant 15psi before high rpm dropoff? I only average 12, maybe you have more mods than me or my car is weak.

weather, enviroment, humidity, and how many miles you have on your car will affect it. I don't get 15 psi all the time... I am usually around 12-13 on average...

a few posts back there was a "make your own leak tester" which was supplied in a thread by PSI CHICK... haven't tried it yet on mine... that could an issue, loss of boost in the system... of course, that depends on where the "sensor" is for measuring the boost pressure is at... if it's right after the turbo or closer to the intake side??? anyone know this answer?

Weather and atmopheric conditions can change what you get. Mine is normally 15 psi max., but when it's crappy and humid I usually only get 12-13 psi max. Your problem sounds to me more like an intake system leak. Tighten all of the clamps on your hoses around the intercooler, turbo and throttle body. Then disconnect the battery for 5 minutes and hook it back up and drive it and see if your still low on boost.[sm=smiley2.gif]

I guess I should read every post before I post, because now I sound like a repeat of SRT_YA.^[sm=smiley9.gif][sm=smiley36.gif][sm=smiley36.gif]

Maybe the weather affects these turbos more than I thought. It's been really humid here lately so could be just bad air. Glad to hear average boost is 12-13psi, that's what I would normally get. Does the stage 2 add another 5 psi?

As far as I've heard, the Stage 2 bumps it up to around 18 psi boost.

can't wait for stage 2, just if I only had some money. It may be hot where I'm at but let me say, keep in mind this true, it's dry heat. of course until the Monsoons start then it cools down a little and the Humidity picks up tremendously.
