HELP!!
Sorry for the lack of attention to this post, but I can attest having been on here for about a year now I haven't seen this question asked before or even seen it talked about. I am somewhat embarrased to say that I know nothing about this cars particular sensor arrangement but maybe that is a good thing as I have had no such problems. I am however, a mechanic and have done similar tasks on other vehicles and I can tell you sometimes it's easy and sometimes it's a pain in the a**.(depending on location) Big help Huh? [&:]I would also like to know what precipitated this decision to change the crank sensor too, but if you are sure it's bad and you are going to change it, this is what I would do on any car. I would get the new sensor and look at it. Then I would start to look around the passenger side end of the engine down near the harmonic balancer for something that looks the same as the new one. That is generally where they are located. HOWEVER, a crank sensor can be on the back of the block near the flywheel or somewhere tangential to the crank centerline sticking into the side of the block. In short, they can be anywhere along the crankshaft, either side and front or back. Start near the front. Hopefully ours does not require removal of auxilliary components to get to. Sometimes, you have to pull a balancer off. Anyway, if you find it and you are sure you have the tools to do the job, disconnect the battery before you start and reconnect it when you are done. More often than not, a sensor like this is not too difficult to change. Getting to it is usually the worst of it. My other suggestions are; check the how to's on this site, do a word search on this site, do a google search for this topic and/or talk to a Dodge dealership mechanic and see if he has done one and they might tell ya where it's located and if special tooling is needed. Of course, there is always the chance they will make it sound harder to do than it is, in order to get the business, but hey, even I have had to do that before.[8D]
This is the best I can do at this moment.
Anyone else?

it's in the front of the block just under the starter. the service manual says to diconnect the battery, remove the lower intercooler hose from the metal tube coming from the turbo, take off the structural collar, undo the connector on the sensor, take out the sensor bolt, remove the sensor. lube the new o-ring with engine oil and use a twisting motion to put it in. tighten the bolt to 9 Nm. install in reverse order. the structural collar has a specific order to taking it out and putting it in. i have pictures of all the steps but i don't know how to put them on here. i could describe it all if need be but pictures would be alot better. help me help you.
now it just dawned on me. are you wanting to fix it because of a check engine code? mine does that every now and then but it also has the code for sentry key immobilize module not programmed. it fixes itself with the next few start cycles. i think it might have something to do with that "Identity" system i had put on from the dealer. maybe i have too many security mods done to it and about once every 6-9 months my car won't start, lights on the dash go haywire, then everythings fine.
