Default Exhaust advice

I was wondering if anyone has opinions about what direction I should go with my exhaust?
Originally I was thinking about getting the mopar/borla but I am not sure about a 2.5 inch. Would 3" be better? So far all I have in the bay is a bov and an intake but I'm planning more for certain.

I also just read the side exhaust article in scc and thought it looked awesome. Plus it sure is cheap. Any feelings on the setup?

I just installed a MP/Borla and I like it a lot. Anything is better than those twists and turns that were in the stock setup, but Borla has always made quality exaust systems. As far as it being 2.5", that should be all you need until you start thinking about a larger turbo (S3). Maxxfab makes a nice 3" system that leads into the MP/Borla. If I were to upgrade my exaust any further, that's the route I would probably go and I would not have to sell or scrap my current cat-back.

Check local laws about side exit exaust set-ups. Some states require that they exit behind the rear wheel.

edit: this is not my advice, this is what I have done and plan on doing.

not to jump off topic, but Wheat_burner... I love your quote:

"SRT-4 is just a Neon? Is the SRT-10 just a Ram?" That is awesome... I am using that one on anyone who tells me "it's just a Neon"... haha...

I plan on going with the Borla/Mopar exhaust (plan, haven't yet)... Borla isn't known for crappy products, and Mother Mopar has her name on it...

Talk to Roach****a, he's got the setup I would recommned for up to 300 whp or slightly higher. It's a Mopar up until right where the Mopar necks down to 2.25 to meet the cat pipe. There, that neck down is removed. From there up, it's a Maxxfab 3 inch downpipe with a O2 housing. High quality, you can option the system in digfferent ways like cat/no cat, mild or stainless. See Maxxfab.com for details.

I have no interest in Scotts (the owner of Maxxfab) business, but have researched and listened to folks who have bought his stuff. His modified Mopar has been dyno tested to match a full 3inch catback whp wise.

Maxxfab exhaust is great. [have the whole+O2]. though i do feel a little low-end loss, but it goes great on the mid-high end with my Stage 2. my goal is to reach 300+ @ 20psi's runnin 100 oct.

I'm going the Maxxfab route, but I'm not doing it all at once. I already have the Mopar/Borla cat-back exhaust on and I plan on getting the rest from Maxxfab, it is also a liitle cheaper this way. They charge $400 for the Mopar/Borla with the 2.25" reduction cut off already, but I got my Mopar/Borla for $355 shipped and I can get a pipe cutter for a few $'s.

so are you going with the 3" cat then?

I've heard that the size of the piping isn't going to make that much of a difference, the back pressure is created by the cat, of course if you have tiny pipes that is going to restrict the flow even more but is a half a inch going to be that crucial on back pressure if it has to go through the stock cat? Now if you have a modded or a performance cat, then I understand the difference.

I'm still debating on whether I'll go 3" or 2.5" turbo back, but definately going with a performance cat.
