Default Forge BOV question

glhs837, I hope you get a chance to read this. I know you have first hand experience with these. I just received my Forge BOV today and noticed a very small cut along the mating surface by the o-rings. It looks like a cut from a razor blade like you would see when someone opens a case of something and cuts a little too deep. There was no damage to the o-rings. Is this a problem?
Also I have tried the search for a how-to for the Mopar BOV, but the only one I found on the other board was a bad link.

Thanks.

Not to butt in, but there is some Permatex sealer you can use that will probably take care of that.....that's what many of us have used on our Mopar BOVs to be safe.....just a FYI.......[&:]

To be safe, you might want to flip the o-ring over, so its surrounded, or contact Forge directly, see what they will do. Who knows, but the one time I talked to Tom, he seemd like a good guy. Here you go,

Bad address, here's the site, contact info there

Thanks, Dusty. I'll check into the permatex gasket sealer.

glhs837, that's a great site for info, thanks. I'll have to make some phone calls tomorrow since the part came in late today. I have read about "the string" and already bought the 10mm ratcheting wrench.

I'll post some pictures next week since I'll be away this weekend.

Thanks to both of you again!

If your Forge unit seals with an O ring, then the Permatex may be a bad idea. It's great for gaskets, but I don't know about using it with a rubber O ring.[sm=smiley34.gif]

I just spoke with Tom at Forge Motorsports and like you said, he's a real cool guy. Although he said it would probably not affect performance, he agreed that I should just send it back to him for a replacement. I should have it next week.

glhs837, when you installed the forge, did you do it with the knurled cap and spring off? Would that give you more room to work, or doesn't that make a difference?

Glad to hear Tom is doing you right. Not that I doubted it

I did not take it apart for the install. The space it would buy you is not in the right place. I would not monkey grip the halves unitl it was in, then you can make sure the vac nipple is in the right place.
