They probably close the gap to keep the spark. Turbocharged engines, especially modded ones, can have a spark blow out problem at full boost. That large amount of air being forced in is actually blowing the spark plugs spark out.[sm=smiley2.gif]
I read about the .035 gap. But, is it safe![&:] .050 seems a little big for a gap size. i know of alot of deisel (Turbo) with gap sizes(+) this high. I was shooting for .038 -.040. Any remarks on that.
Also, should i go for the NGK spark plug (Platinum) or should i just reduce the stock ones...
On a different note! The 3" O2 housing install is a REAL Freakin PAIN[:@][:@]. For guys who doin the same... take to the shop... just an advice
since you have stage 2, i would suggest the champions at .035 or the ngk's at .040. that's what we run on all the strage 2 cars around here, and it's worked very well for us.
on a stock car .045 seems to be the best gap, but it's very dependant on the car. trial and error seems to be the best way to go on that one.
Thanks PSI. I am leaning on changing out the plugs, but which one has a "colder core" the NGK or the Champion? Also, is there a website i can use to get'em
the ngk's are one range colder than the champions. you can get the ngk's at sparkplugs.com, or your local napa should have them. ngk plug number LZTR5A-13, stock number 4306. the champions you should be able to get just about anywhere.
Its a little difficult cuz im in Germany right now[&:]. and the nearest NAPA is across the Atlantic. But thanks for the site.. Ill hit it up today for the NGk's
