hey im thinking on getting a srt-4
I dont know much about cars at all and I was just wondering what would be the best thing i should upgrade first with the srt-4. I will have around 1000 dollars. I was thinking about getting a stage 1. Anything else? thanks

 

Stage 1, CAI and the Mopar/Borla exhaust.....that might leave you enough for a Mopar BOV as well......

cai's are worthless other than for opening up room in the engine bay.

 

Wouldn't a down pipe be more useful than a cat-back?

 

no. if not going with a full 3" turbo back a cat back should be first on the list. if you get a dp, then you're going from 2.25" to 3" back down to 2.25" which does you no good at all. a 3" tbe is really the way to go though, no use wasting money on a cat back imo/e.

 

If I had an extra grand I would throw it towards the principal on my loan...if its paid for thats cool. Im just a firm believer in having no loans on "toys" and when the mods start, that is exactly what the car will become. Start modding engine and then it needs a clutch, add the HD clutch, break a halfshaft, fix the halfshaft and lunch a tranny, and so on. Once you go that route it cant be your only means of transportation because parts are no longer available at the dealers or auto parts and you are at the mercy of mail order.

 

if you brake a half shaft because of a clutch you have bigger problems than worrying about a loan. you seriously need a driver mod.

 

just throwing out an example on how mods snowball....how long were you down with the trans?
