Default Engine Swap?

Alright I got a 2001 Honda Civic with a 1.7L engine. Im thinkin about puttin in a SRT-4 Engine into it and then adding upgrades to that. I need to know if u think that it will fit in a Civic and wether thats the route i should take. If you got any advice that great. Hit me up.

You would need a lot of custom fabrication to make it work, but I'm sure its possible. Not sure how deep your pockets are or what engines swaps are compatible, but I would guess swapping out for a vtech or any other major honda motor would be easier. Have you looked into a swap for the s2000 motor? Another question would be if you plan on keeping the stock drivetrain, because I don't know how the 2.4 engine will match up with the 1.7 trans.

I already got a vtec i really just want a fast engine. I prolly get a new drivetrain to since its automatic right now and i want a manual. I thought the dodge srt4 engine would be good.

yo VEETECK!!!!!!!!!! SON YOU JUS SAID DA MAGIK WERD!!!!!!!!!!! ......lmao first, ditch the honda, by the time you get done swapping the engine, tranny, harness, custom CV axels, motor mounts, and a few other tedious and expencive things, you could just buy an SRT-4......tyically, you can buy a turbo kit for your motor, and have someone tune it for a fraction of the price......shoot everyone makes EVERYTHING for the civic......

agreed, if you want an srt motor and still want the fun of a swap, get an 02+ neon and do the swap that way. or if you want to keep the honda, stay in their motors. not sure if an s2k motor would fit as suggested, but its a good start. i know someone among the rice out there there are actually some very fast hondas, perhaps try some forums there to see what numbers folks are getting out of various motors.

i guess with time and money it would be possible to drop the 2.4 in your honda but the amount of work and cash required could have you a much quicker dodge or honda than a HODGE would. this is rather reminiscent (sp?) of the awd srt4 idea, is it not? perahps a good concept but just too impracticle to be worth doing.

Honestly, its not even worth your time. You could get 230/250 faster and cheaper with adding upgrades to the honda, than you could swapping the motor.

That suspension couldn't handle what the 2.4L has to offer. Plus custom fabricating everything to fit, and you'd need the gauge cluster as well. The cluster "talks" to the PCM, so you cannot use another cluster.

Buy a neon and do it, or just buy an SRT and keep the honda as a winter beater. Or better yet, just mod the honda. Save yourself the 10 grand....

I would love to watch him as he drove it with the swap for the first time.... like 4lbs of torque to 250lbs, talk about "buckin" in first gear
