Replacement tires sought...
My wife's OEM tires are approaching their demise all too rapidly. What brand, model, and size should I replace them with? She has nearly 21k on her orange blast '05 which she special ordered and picked up two years ago December. I swapped the 'tuner' style tail lights - and installed an O.C.C. and MOPAR Performance K&N-style air filter. Those OEM tires did a bit better than the Goodyear Eagle GT+4's on my '90 Shadow ES Turbo 5sp did - 18k past driving it off the showroom floor found them slick... they were ~$700/set back then. I'd rather not put so much in today's bucks into her tires - but she does like to eat Mustangs, etc, on her way home...
Suggestions?
Thanks!

I have Yokahamo tires on mine after my '05 ate 17k miles thru the stockers. . .
I don't know the size, but here is a tip, I like getting mine from Discount tire, and I called Big O first to get a quote on some Khumo's, they gave me a quote, I went to discount and told them Big O would do it for such and suck (I think I told them like $50 cheaper than the actual quote) so discount said they would do it for that price, then they only had 3 of the Khumo tires, so they upgraded me to the Yoko's, $588 for $900 worth of tires. . . and they have 60k mile waranty

I like My Fuzion ZRI's. Better traction and quieter than the KDWs. Z rated and not terribly expensive. They have the rim saver bead and all that. Decent wear for a grippy tire. I believe that are considered an all season but not super in the snow but still better than a KDW. They can be had at Firestone/Bridgestone dealerships. They were developed for the sport compact crowd. A pretty good tire really.
She likes the traction of the OEM tires, wet & dry, but I would like better wear - and I would like something more frugal.
Now, at 20k miles, the brake warning light is blinking, so I kept it for the day. My wife is 'slumming' in my '05 Liberty, as I will check the brake fluid level shortly - then to the local stealer's, as it has an extended bumper-bumper warranty, carried over from start from her lemon-law buy back '03 Neon (An incentive to keep the '03, they weren't supposed to carry it over to the SRT-4, but it came VIN-number match and everything.). I doubt it will cover pads - or tires. She is tough on brakes... hope she is 'kinder' to my Jeep today!

just top off the brake fluid, don't bother with the dealer it's a waste of your time.
if you want the grippiness of the stock tires you're gonna have to pay for it. there are very few "cheap" tires that are going to give you good performance. and if you cheap out on tires on this car you'll know, because the traction becomes even worse. my b/f put some pos khumo's or something on his and they were so bad...he did it because of the price and needed tires NOW, but he seriously regretted it. i spent the money and got eagle f1 gs-d3's and i love them. traction still is an issue, but that's what 400hp and fwd will do. i couldn't imagine my car on his tires or even the stock tires, it would be a joke. so take some advice, and don't cheap out. spend the extra few bucks and get a good tire.
if you want something reasonable, look into the nitto and toyo lines. we had nittos on the mustang and i loved them, and i had a set of toyo's on my srt and they were very good as well.....

I have BFG G-Force sports, I drive easy about 90% of the time, and I have 49k on these tires with 75% wear left. They're three season tires and they're expensive, but they're better than the KDWIIs all around.
I bought some of the POS Kumho tires PSI mentioned. They are 225/45/17 they have a W speed rating to 168mph, so StupidSrtGuy couldn't use them but that's another story. I doubt I'll ever see 168 mph. I needed all season tires because we do have some snow here in Virginia, not a lot but some. I didn't want to buy a set of steel wheels and put snow tires on them so I compromised. The Kumho's were less expensive and I'm extremely insulted that PSI called my tires POS,,,,,,lol.
These tires have a hell of a good rating in every aspect on Tire Rack's website from people who have bought them and the price was reasonable. From what I can tell so far they ride great, they handle a hell of a lot better than the stock tires in any curves, I guess just because there is more rubber on the ground, but the car corners faster and feels so much more stable compared to the stock tires. If you go with anything like a 225 tire you're gonna need wheels though also so be aware of that.
Traction is an issue with tires for these cars and I doubt you'll find any tire that will completely solve that issue. Personally, I've never thought much of Goodyear or B.F.Goodrich tires mainly because they don't last mileage wise, and I prefer Michelins or Dunlop's but that's just my personal/professional preference.
