Default SRT-4 Noobie Q's

Hello, I'm a long time lurker, first post...

I'm seriously thinking of finally getting one of these. I missed out on a '04 Yellow one and have kicked myself since.

I've got 2 questions; can the dealer install Cruise control on these, since it's not offered, and has anyone run studded snows on these (all 4 wheels)? I live in an area that sees ice and snow and need the traction. I'm getting rid of my Cherokee for this if I do it.

Thanks in advance, I'll let you know if it works out.

No cruise. While it's POSSIBLE, most likely no dealer will touch the install since they would have to modify the Dodge kit considerably. Studded snows? Not that I"m aware of, even our Canadian have not spoken of such. Most have a set of Blizzaks or similar mounted for winter use, or garage the car.

I believe the 04's didn't come in yellow (they dropped the yellow for the electric blue, just as in 05 the rumor is the blue is gone and a *coughing* dreadful orange is the new color)... the 03's were the yellows... I believe that is the way I understood it...

getting rid of a Jeep for a SRT in a snow belt?? hmmm... these are cool/great little cars... and a heck of a lot of fun... but they might not be the best thing in the winter... even with "snow tires"... test drive one before you buy and remember, all that power has to go somewhere when it snows....

Ya,

There were a VERY limited number of 04 yellows, 120ish made. Of which we recently found out only SEVEN of those had a sunroof. The rarest of 04s. It's possible there will be the same thing with 05 blues, no telling yet.

Thanks for the answers. After driving one again, I don't think it will make a practical winter driver.

Bummer. I LOVE these things.

The yellow was an '04, with the Quaife, etc. I really am sorry I didn't buy it now that I know it was rare.

Thanks again.

Why not get a WRX? My next vehicle will be a WRX just for the winter.

Yeah, get a WRX and put some mud runner tires on it and then you'll be able to get through any snow.[]

ALthough they do have a Rally srt-4 that keeps winning the 2 wheel drive class over and over and is posting better times than some AWD cars.

I know that every car I've had is fine in the snow after it gets going, but trying to get it going at first is a problem.[:@]
