I agree 100% that a few ounces isn't going to mean any difference and that you'd have to carbon fiber a heck of alot on a SRT-4 to make a big difference in performance. Plus, you'd have to compare the cost ratio of any performance gains compared to other (performance) mods you could make for the same amount of money or even less. I agree with RR, I'm not a big fan of carbon fiber and won't put it on my car because I don't care for the look. The "decal" carbon fiber stuff is just silly ricer stuff to waste money on. IMHO

17 MPG seems a bit low. Do you do a lot of stop/go driving? If you drive out on the highway alot, I'd say you got fishing weights in your right shoe!![sm=smiley36.gif][sm=smiley20.gif]

O.k. I got your point and still agree that every ounce counts...
Now that said how can I get rid of the plastic silver ball on my shifter for a Pistol grip shifter?....lol has anyone tried yet?

Adam, I guess I should be happy with the 17.5mpg I am getting..

It just pulls right off...straight up. Takes some effort, though.....

Traveling 59 is driving “stopping and go”.... traffic in the afternoon has at times made me crawl 14 miles in 1 hour!!! yup it’s not quite paradise.
If I can boost MPG to about 22, I will be a happy camper that gives me about 7 days before I need to re-fuel. I need to fill up today so I will drive like granny this week and be very courteous to the other drivers who try to cut me off and race me and turn the other cheek....for one week and see if that helps!

Regards,
Napoli

Bleh havn't checked back in a day or two. Perhaps I was misunderstood. I'm not wanting a peice of "fake Carbon fiber" to put on my car. I'm not trying the old trick of "losing a few ounces" to win a race.. else I would take out the cigarette lighter ^_^. I am simply sick of looking at a peice of cheap plastic painted bright silver outlining my entire black dash and sitting atop my shifter (Thats already popped off once). I personally like the look of CF, and for all purposes if for some reason I didn't I can always paint it a more enjoyable shade (perhaps gray -.-). I am looking for a bezel and shifting **** made from carbon fiber, or have the pieces custom fabricated if I must and was just wondering if there was a company that would have/do such a thing.

As for the pistol grip shifter I saw someone mention, I actually found a place that makes them for SRT-4's I believe their $14.99. +$50, if you want it made from CF. Woo haha. But ya.. pistol grip... eww. [:'(]

Thanks Tipop, I understand what you mean. In fact I actualy looked at the detials of mine yesterday. At first from memory I thought it was 2 pieces but I see its one big piece that is simillar in shape to what you can find on the WRX and the Evo...hmmm .....
Now I have to admit that the little plastic shifter bothers me more, maybe because it feels so "plasticky"... so now I sound like a hypocrite fisrt telling you not to change a thing on the looks of your dash to asking you where did you find the pistol grip for the SRT? do they have a website? :-)

O.k. instead of working on a design basis memorandum for Exxon Mobil.....I went into more important things such as searching the Internet for Pistol grips for the SRT-4! Lol
Anyway I found the following available from (Weldtech) http://www.paintshop101.com/ps101_017.htm
1. The lever "chrome" part is made of polished stainless steel and the grips, bezels and shift pattern lens are authentic Guslinger parts,
2. The Weldtech pistol grip is available for SRT-4, Viper, and Stealth, or can be custom-fitted to the shift lever of your choice, still for 119
3. Buy the pistol-grip already installed on a short-throw lever for $139
4. Carbon Fiber also available

I thought maybe the handle itself was all I needed to change to istall the P-Grip however it looks like the whole kitchen and the sink!
Is the short throw a good idea?, it seems for a few bucks more one can get the short throw shifter. I just hate tearing the car apart to do the work...
