ORIGINAL: 71RoadRunner

...I just shoved it in without taking the mount bolt out and using the big washer that holds it in place,
So you just inserted it over the bolt head and you felt that much of a difference? This should be really interesting to see the difference after they're installed. Please follow up when you finish. [sm=smiley20.gif]

Thanks.

i'm sure they're installed by now - just be real careful driving with them - if they fall out it can wreak havoc with your belts

enjoy them - I do

No chance of that, I had to flex the A/C lines down a bit to get it to squeeze in without unbolting it. If it does walk out it will hit the A/C lines and stop there, they will keep it from falling out. I'm going to my storage to get the torque wrench tomorrow/today, so it will be in properly hpoefully by then.

Just having the insert in place is almost the exact same as having it in there properly, the insert is filling in the gaps either way and that is what makes the difference with them, simply filling in the gaps.[sm=smiley2.gif]

I'll give 2 opinions here: 1: I ordered and installed my DC Front and Rear strut bars before receiving/installing my S3 coilovers. I agree with RR, they made the care feel 100% better, even in stock form. Now, here comes the opinion on M.P., and a quick ordering/horror story about another place, turboneonstore<dot>com. I had ordered the following items so far from TNS.com, (1) Perrin Charge Pipe, (1) HKS SSQ BOV, (1) AGP BOP, (2) sets of motor mount inserts, I don't remember which ones, but they're the ones that come with the zip ties. Anyways, on a side note, 1 set will cover 2 cars, since most will only install the upper anyways for daily drivability, 2, do the bolts, not the zipties!!. Back to the ranting. Next order: (1) AGP Mesh Grill, (2) sets Sylvania Silverstars *remember friend has srt too, i buy him parts every once in a while for help on installs*, (1) Hotchkis Anti-Sway Bar Kit (F & R) , DC Sports Strut Bars (F & R) , Mopar S3 Coilovers, Perrin Short Shifter w/booger bushings, MSD Coil pack & Wires, camber kit, etc. So, most of my parts show up, except for the S3 and the Hotchkis. I call after a couple days, the guy puts me on hold, comes back says he talked to the guy @ Mopar, they'll be there tomorrow and he'll ship 'em out to me then. 2 days later I call to get a tracking number, same sob story. The Following week, I finally receive a tracking number. I get all happy, except that it only says 1 package, and it's not 30 pounds, which I will later come to find out how much the S2 and S3 kits weigh. I call, and find out it's my hotchkis kit, the S3 kit should be shipping out tomorrow, and they'll 3-day it to me for my 'hassle' or whatever. I get the hotchkis kit, open it up with a smile, until I notice there's only one bar in it. Upon further opening, I read the install instructions, which are oddly laid out for an Evo8. Hmm, now I seriously doubt that we share the same exact body structure, nor would hotchkis jus bag one general kit w/their name on it and not ours. Well, come to find out I was right. Apparently there was a problem at their 'shipping company' which is whoever they order the hotchkis parts from due to the fact that they're not even a true hotchkis dealer *not buying from them directly that is* So anyways, I call back, inform them of this, he tells me that he'll ship the right one out today, and they'll pick up the wrong one when they deliver the correct one. So, let's check the status on the S3 kit. Nope, still hasn't shipped yet. Couple days finally pass, I think roughly 2-3 weeks or so, and I finally get a mopar box on my front door. All happy, I open it. look around, notice everything is all shiney and blue, just the way I hoped. Well, that is until I try and see what the difference is between the S2 and the S3's. So, I go to look it up online, check out some part numbers, and quick refrences, ie: allen adjustment @ top of tower, and low 'n behold, Lucky me is holding part numbers that match the S2. So, I can tell you one person that didn't go to the casino that weekend. Anyways, after checking around a little, reading up on these forums, and all YOUR words in this one mainly on MP, I checked them out. Called him up, asked if they had the S3 kits in stock. YES, how much? 1349. How much shipped, i don't remember, how much to have overnighted? (i think you all are begining to see my sickness) the guy on the phone actually thought that 112 bux extra to have them to me by the next day was going to stop me. he must not have known I've been cursing out the UPS man for the last 3 weeks straight. ;-Þ So, total cost to purchase from MP vs TNS..... -$~100 or so, to have the next day!!!!

ps: if anyone happens to order from them, tell Chris or Drew I said hi. ;-D or maybe you shouldn't if you want your parts anytime this month. Also, quick note: I had them pick up the hotchkis bar as well, because I still never received the correct ones. apparently they went on backorder as well w/out informing me of this. so, once again, inspector internet over here, finds quite a few places that sell the kit, but nobody seems to have it in stock. so, if you want hotchkis. and you don't want to wait until a retailer/supplier happens to get one. Call them directly!! You can order direct. I asked the salesman who gets the bars first, the 23403 ppl who ordered them through Jeggs, or the lonely sole person who called the manufacturer 'n spent the extra $30 bux. Guess who he said is their priority. Well, needless to say, I'm $30 dollars poorer. Also, you can't special request them to be painted any other color, they bend their own bars, then send them off to be painted/powder coated, etc, then bring 'em back in their shop to fit them on their neon b4 sending them out the door. when asked if i could have blue instead of red, he said he couldn't even get it done 'n he works there. oh well.

I finally got off my lazy butt and put the washer on the top insert to keep in place properly. After a day of spirited driving through some curves caused the insert to walk out, I noticed it the following day when I started the car and it didn't have the rougher feeling on start up that it does when the insert is in place. I waited until I got where I was going before I checked it and sure enough it was almost all the way out, it cannot come completely out because the A/C lines are in the way. I still need to put in the lower insert though.

The instructions say that you have to use a jack to brace the engine to keep it from moving while it is unbolted, but it is not necessary if the car is level and not being moved. All I did was take the bolt out, put the washer in place and put the bolt back in. The only problem I had was the interference from the A/C lines being slightly in the way. I could not get my 1/2" drive torque wrench in there, so I had to guesstimate it, I need to get a 3/8" drive torque wrench. As long as you have the tools to do it, the upper insert shouldn't take any longer than 5-10 minutes tops. I'll be putting the lower one in sometime this week since I'm going to the track on saturday.[sm=smiley2.gif]
