Default DC CS-2 Rear Strut Tower Brace & Prothane Race Motor Mount Inserts

I ordered my DC CS-2 rear strut tower brace and Prothane race (red) motor mount inserts on tuesday and they arrived yesterday. I will be putting them on today and will let everyone know how it goes and what a difference they make. I will also post pics of them whenever I get another camera.[sm=smiley2.gif]

I got the prothane street inserts in black. I'm definitely interested in how it goes for you. [sm=smiley20.gif]

One hint on the rear strut bar...cut the holes/slits in the trunk liner AS SMALL AS POSSIBLE. Really try to force that larger flanged part through a smaller hole.
When I did mine, I made one slit a little larger than I would have liked to. The smaller the slit, the better it will look.

Thanks, but I had already planned to make the holes as small as possible for a good clean professional look. It came out quite well and looks great. I didn't realize that it had a layer of sound deadener below the surround, but it wasn't a problem, I just cut a slit from one hole to the other and that seemed to work out fine. My only problem was a burr that was on the strut brace on it's mating surface, but it was taken care of with 5 seconds of my rotary tool.

I always thought that a rear STB would be a waste of money since the rear seems like it would good and solid with all that metal. The front I could see, since it has the hood and no metal connecting the two except for the firewall. Boy was I wrong. After I had put the front strut tower brace on it helped the handling quite a bit, but then the rear seemed to feel a bit loose and disconnected. The rear STB changed that, it now feels good and solid with none of that disconnected feeling anymore. I recommend it to all.[sm=smiley20.gif]

Why certainly, I get almost everything from them.[sm=smiley20.gif] The only things I have gotten that didn't come from them was my Mopar BOV (dealership), MSD Super Conductor wires, MSD coil, Autometer gauges (Jegs) and my OCC's which I bought at Auto Zone. I bought my K & N Typhoon CAI, MPx front STB, DC CS-2 rear STB, Prothane race motor mount inserts, Mopar STS w/booger bushings, triple gauge pod pillar and Mopar/Borla cat-back exhaust from Modern Performance. I think that covers everything so far.[sm=smiley4.gif]

Yeah, MP gets lots of free publicity here. They only "messed up" on me one time.....I ordered my MSD plug wires and waited over 3 weeks for them (MP is only 200 miles away from me). I finally called to find out what the problem was and they told me they were on backorder. They could have told me that when I initially ordered them! At any rate, I got them about a week later. Other than that one time, I've had good service from them....

Thet've always told me up front if something was on back order or out of stock, that's why it took me so long to order my Mopar/Borla exhaust. It would be great if they would become a DF sponsor, then maybe we could also get a discount.[sm=smiley3.gif][sm=smiley20.gif]

I put in my upper motor mount insert sunday morning and I drove it just up the street to the pizza place tonight and it seems to make a difference, a good one at that. I don't have it properly secured, I just shoved it in without taking the mount bolt out and using the big washer that holds it in place, because I didn't have my torque wrench here at the time (the factory service manual calls for 85 ft-lbs). After I get it out of storage I will have it properly secured as well as having the lower one put in. You notice more vibration on start up, but I didn't notice any more yet at an idle. It is definately more reactive to throttle input and it is more responsive while shifting, the power is right there and is more noticeable. You can't go wrong for the price, $23.99 for both upper and lower inserts. I initally was wanting the Rex inserts since I've had previous experience with them in my R/T, but I have heard of some people claiming to have had their mounts rubber damaged by them and they are $28.99 for only 1 mount (since there are 2 it would cost $57.98 instead of the Prothanes $23.99 for both). That and the fact that the Rex inserts only fill in most of the gaps and not all like the Prothane do, is why I went with the Prothane. The Energy Suspension inserts are nice too, they fill all the gaps like the Prothane do, but they use what are basically zip ties to hold them in place and they are known to break easy. Most replace the zip ties with bolts, nuts and washers and they're also a little more expensive.
