If the car is running O.K I'd simply put the catch can on it as soon as possible. I've recently read a post from someone here about taking the intercooler out and cleaning any oil out of and the pipes running to it.
If I were even thinking about going down that road, and make no mistake here, I'm not made of money, but I'd buy the AGP direct replacement intercooler and hard pipes for the car. If I'm going to go to all the work to take the stock intercooler out, it's a great excuse to replace it with something better. For somewhere in the neigborhood of a $1000 dollars you can get the AGP catch can, intercooler and hard pipes.

whats done is done. i didnt put the OCC on until after owning the car for a year. but it now does its job, when i took off the line from the pvc to throttlebody, i origionally used some homedepot style hose, so the factory line leaked out quite a bit of oil for th elength of it. but after about a week fo the cheap lines sucking shut, i replaced them with some better rubber, thick lines and still using the factory line to snake through the manifold. it holds up just fine
