i heard that just putting in the thermostat doesnt do anytthing. that you need a fan switch to control it. his that true? if so how does that work and is it hard to wire up.

 

A thermostat doesn't require anything to control it.

 

the fan switch is needed to see maximim benefits of a thermostat. the thermo will open at 180, but the fan's don't go on until about 205, so the car can still become hot. the fan mod allows you to turn your fans on earlier so that the car stays cooler. it's really easy, just tap into the blue w/pink wire and run a switch into the cabin.

 

what is the stock thermostat set to open at? and would just putting in a 180 thermostat make the car run cooler, w/o adding a fan switch?

 

stock is 195. the car will run cooler when it's moving with only the thermostat. once you're at idle the temps will go up and stay there as the fans don't turn on. it's also nice to have the fan mod at the track, it helps keep things cool in the lanes.

you have to use the red stuff. personally i stick with the mopar actually, it's worked the best so far.

My srt4temp level gauge is alittle over the middle half of the thermostat, does it need to be replaced or is this normal?
