Default noob here

Just checkin in. I'm selling my 94 Formula and purchasing a SRT-4(possibly stage 1 or 2).
Is it possible to have the car converted into a stage 1 or 2 from the dealer? Are there any things I should look out for? The dealer around me is asking $21090(sticker). I know these question are probably stupid to you guys, but I appreciate any help.
Thanks

Dealer should be able to get/put on stage 1 or 2... best bet, get the car, learn to drive it... then add stages... (see some of the other posts)...

things to look out for, increased jealousy among other car owners, ignorant people thinking you bought a "riced" Neon, and a turbo that will get you in trouble if you aren't careful

look into the oil catch can idea (see other posts as well)... good luck with the new ride! I LOVE mine!

Like SRT YA said, put the $20 OCC on....it's very easy and will help keep your car running like new. The dealer CAN put on your Stage 1, but you need to order it first and give them the VIN # and estimated miles...personally, I'd let the engine break in first before putting it on, it really adds a noticeable amount of power....

Figure on about $111 for labor on the Stage 1 install.....

thanks for the help so far guys! I'm looking around the forums, and everyone says get a catch can, I intend to, but(this'll sound dumb), will it void warranty and is this something I should be worried about?
my experience w/ power adders/breaking in motors is to break in the motor with the set-up you intend to run so when the bigger power gets made, you don't have to worry about head gaskets blowing, etc...or are these cars different?
Also, if any of you other guys out there have "traditional" muscle cars, do I have to get used to the car's power seeing as I already have been in 12's in my daily ride? or is it a completely different type of power?

The OCC won't do anything to your warranty. Dodge SHOULD have included one on the car when they designed it, but I guess they were saving pennies where ever they could. It's going to take a few weeks to get your Stage 1, by then you should have the 300 mile break in period done with....

BTW, the Stage kits aren't warranted since they are "performance parts"...they won't void the warranty either, despite what some dealers may say. They have to clearly show the modded part caused the warranted part(s) to fail....

You're going to have wheel hop/traction issues with all that power....motor mounts might be worth your time, as well.

What's up, sikbyrd350? I'm in Northwest NJ. If you have the time to shop, you might find a dealer that will include upgrades right into the sale price of your car. click here
I'm sure the place that sells this modded SRT-4 is not going to give the buyer problems with their warranty.

Good luck...let us know when you get the new car!

My salesman "offered" to get the Stage 1 for me when I bought my car but I declined when he told me it would "void the warranty on my turbo".
After talking to RR I realized my salesman didn't know what the heck he was talking about....the service department hasn't said diddly squat about my mods, either.

Yeah, when my buddy got his SRT-4 he wanted the engine to break in before he started the performace work (Stage 1 included). He also wanted to feel the power increase s he knew what he was doing was making power and sense. Hope this helps you out, and I can guarantee you'll love the SRT-4!

Just as dusty said, they cannot void your warranty no matter what mod you do, but if they can prove that one of your mods was directly responsible for a warranted part to fail then your the one who has to pay for the parts and repair.

Yes you will have to get use to the power in the SRT-4. You are use to a RWD car with power, but this is a FWD car with power and it is a completely different animal all together. You will need to get use to the front end breaking loose instead of the rear and you will have to learn how to go through curves too. These cars will pull through turns and curves where your previous car would push through them. All you had to worry about before was controlling the rear if it gets loose and that is easier to control and deal with than the front getting loose. You will also learn about the dreaded wheel hop which will happen when you try to launch hard and spin the tires. To eliminate this problem you will need to get a set of motor mount inserts, here is a link to all the info on this (read post #8 for all the info): https://dodgeforum.com/tm.asp?m=60014
