Mopar Stage 2
71RoadRunner:
you keep saying that you've seen a 1 second decrease in time with only stage 1. where did you see this?
i ask because there's no way that realilstically anyone would get a 1 second decrease in a 1/4 mile time from only stage 1. with supporting mods (wga, exhaust, mbc, etc.) okay, i'll buy it. but only stage 1, with everything else stock? no way. 15 hp does not equal 1 second at the track. unless of course the driver didn't know what they were doing the previous times at the track can couldn't get a faster time than 14.5 or something, and then got the run of their life and pulled a 13.5, that i could see. or they lied about what their mods were. but it's just impossible for stage 1 alone to give that much of a decrease. average stage 1 only times are about 13.5-13.6, and stock times are about 13.7-13.9. maybe a really good driver could pull a 13.3, but that would be about it, and it's still not a full second.
i just don't want people to read that and think that stage 1 will give them that kind of increase in performance, because it won't. and least not for us human drivers.
sorry for the digression, back to stage 2 discussions.....

It was almost a full second drop in 1/4 mile time. I have seen it done by the same cars at two seperate tracks, Norwalk and National Trails, in the same year. The first was at Norwalk during a sport compact event, I forget the exact name of the event so I will ask a friend of mine that went as well, and the second was at the Mopar Nationals. The cars had blue Michigan manufacturer plates, a couple of them were stock and a couple had Stage 1. The Stage 1 cars had white decal lettering on the rear side windows that said PVO Stage 1, I believe the cars were yellow. The stock SRT-4's were running consistent 13.7-13.9 and the Stage 1 cars were running consistent 13.0-13.2. There was also one or two others that were running around 14.1-14.3, but I do not know if they were the manufacturer cars or not. So it is actually a .7-.9 drop in 1/4 mile times over stock. At that time I still didn't want an SRT-4 because of it having 4 doors, which I cannoy stand. But after seeing one or two in black and seeing how well it helps to hide the 4 door look, combined with both the magazine write ups and performance and what I had personally seen them do, I eventually caved in and bought one.
Although I have yet to drive mine to that level of performance, having only went down the 1/4 mile 4 times on a notoriously slippery track, I hope to after I can get the launch down, as this is where I have been faltering.[:@]
A couple of friends that I went to the Norwalk event with took several pictures and videos of the event. If they have any of either on the SRT-4's that I am refering to, I will see if I cannot get them to post, however the one that has all of the pictures and videos has been robbed 3 times in the past 2 months and has lost most all of his DVD's, CD's, games and electronics.[:@]
I would never lie or imbellish the truth. I am here to provide the best possible information that I can and not to mislead anyone into anything with false claims.[sm=innoc.gif] I think you have been on the srtforums too much, having to deal with BS and tall tales from people like Andybuzz2u.[sm=smiley2.gif]

ahh andybuzz...how much fun we have with him!!!
i'm not trying to say that you're lying, just that seeing 13.0-13.2 out of only stage 1 is definitely not the norm. if you were seeing the PO cars with their drivers, then it's a little more believable, but your average driver is not seeing those types of increases. check out the fastest times list on srtforums, you can see everyone's mods there as well. I'm willing to bet that there isn't a single person there running anything close to a 13.0 with only stage 1, and that most, if not all, are more in the 13.3-13.6 range.

I have briefly gone through it before and checked out the times. I couldn't believe that they were turning those times either, but I wasn't the only one seeing them do it either and my friends that were there and I often times bring up how insane it was to see them turning those times with only Stage 1. I understand your disbelief 100%, I would have a hard time believing it myself if I hadn't seen it with my own two eyes.[sm=smiley3.gif]
