does the hks sound louder than the raptor or are they about the same ultimate racing has a full kit that comes w/the hks but it twists on no welding does the hks need to be welded let me know if anyone has some thoughts on these bov.

 

I used to own an hks...now i got a raptor.Let me tell you man raptor is way better.HKS sound like a bird or some weird animal.Raptor sound more like a turbo car....its a lot better too.If you compare prices hks is like $100 cheaper than raptor.They sell a kit at modernperformance for about $300.Comes with hardpipe,badass clamps,hoses,block off plate,vac line and of course raptor bov.All the other hks kits I've seen go for about the same price and don't come with the block off plate and usually have regular clamps.So there you have it, now you decide.If you get the raptor let me know and I'll give you a hand, hopefully you won't make the same mistakes i did

 

Everyone has an opinion and you'll find a wide range of them in here everytime you ask a question. The HKS SSQV is generally known to be one of the best BOV's on the market and I wouldn't dismiss it simply because one person had a bad experience with it or doesn't like the sound of it. Hell, I don't like the sound of the music my son listens to but he calls it music and we agree to disagree.

Most places you buy the hard pipes from weld the flange on for you before they ship it so you simply install the BOV of the manufacturers flange you selected.

 

good point tailsman. me personally im thinkin about goin for the raptor here very shortly. ive heard great things about both though.

i never said hks was crap,most srt owners i know got them....i just think raptor is better, and you get a better deal on the kit, but like you said every1 has their own opinion

to be is better...and "thats how it is"......raptor can hold more psi, and most of the people i know had to weld the hks to the pipe because they leaked.HKS comes with a thin clamp,you can even turn the bov on the flange or pipe,it does a 360 circle.When i bought mine I had to buy a much stronger clamp so it wouldn't turn.

 

Anyhow, I haven't put my hard pipes and HKS SSQV on yet, but it appears the only thing holding the BOV on is a snap ring which keep the valve pressed down againg the rubber o'ring. I can only imagine that the BOV could possibly be grabbed and turned so it's facing the direction you want. It still shouldn't leak. HKS made the valve and the flange, I trust their engineering skills.

We wll see, as soon as I'm feeling better I'll get to work on it. I decided on the HKS after a lot of research during which the Tial and the HKS emerged as the 2 best in the opinions of others I read about.

I bought the HKS mainly because it was a lot less expensive than the Tial.

The only thing I read about the Raptor in particular is it is loud. The car is loud enough now, I didn't want louder so Raptor was never even in the running.

 

I couldn't believe the Gators last night. I didn't think they belonged in the same stadium with Ohio State. Of course I was pulling for Florida being an east coast team and they did put a whupping on em. Ohio State was walking tall after that kickoff return and it was all downhill after Florida scored their 1st TD.

 

raptor isn't that loud....but it has diff sounds.When you change gears and don't boost that much she makes a diff sound than when your boosting.HKs makes the same noise....every time.I'm not putting hks bov down...i just like raptor better.I know because i owned hks....but if you like your hks and your happy with it than it doesn't get any better than that!!
