A friend of mine bought one a couple weeks ago and wants to sell it to me.He never installed it, he wants $40.Is this a good deal?Do I need to tune the car to install this?

don't waste your money.

yes you have to tune, you need a a/f gauge at the minimum. but in the end, you'll just end up dumping it for something else and it's not worth the risk of blowing your motor if it's not set properly.

then don't be cheap and get a real fuel controller! lol

look map clamps only end up blowing motors in my experience. they can only clamp the voltage at one point, and that causes a lean condition usually up top because if the ecu is thinking that there's lower boost it will pull fuel. without at least a pump to bring the volume higher it can get dangerously lean and fry the rings.

PSI, would the FPR mod work instead of forking up the $$$ for a Walbro?

the fpr mod does work, however there is a debate going out the long-term effects of using it in terms of injector duty cycle and life span. increasing fuel pressure also doesn't do much if your injectors are still running on the same duty cycle, all it does is back up the system (especially with no return line). so you're increasing pressure which could harm both your injectors and your fuel pump by making them work harder than they were designed to work.

now using the fpr along with a pump and injectors to control fuel output does work, not as efficently as a fuel control device, but it works. on the stock system however it isn't THAT effective.
