Default Question about stage kits

Ive been checking out the various websites that sell the mopar staged kits. I was wondering, does a person have to be a mechanic with mechanics tools to install the S2 or S3 kits.

The S1 and S2 kits are pretty easy to install. The S3 kit is a bit more complex.

S1 = Change the ECU (and Fuel Injectors if it's an 03)
S2 = Change the ECU, WGA and Fuel Injectors.
S3 = Change the ECU, Turbo (Exhaust) Manifold, Turbo, Fuel Rail, Fuel Injectors, Fuel Pump & Regulator Assembly (means dropping or partially dropping the gas-tank) and probably something else I'm forgetting.

Well in a used one you want to make sure that 1st it is the stage they say it is and 2nd that it works and has all the parts it's supposed to. You'll have to get theECU reflashed for your cars mileage and such. I don't know where to get it done though, but can someone here can tell you where.

okay this brings up another question...Thank you for the quick responses by the way.......Since i have to provide mileage say if i order stage one, does that mean that i cannot drive the car till the new unit comes, if the actual mileage increases while im waiting for my S1 kit to ship will that affect me negatively.

...... [&:]Well that's a good question since I don't have a Stage Kit myself. I would assume you could still drive your car seeing that the kits sometimes take a while to get to you. Someone who has one will have to answer that one for ya.

i think they add around 2k miles more than what your car has at the time or ordering that way when it gets to you, you should be at about the amount that's just right....better to have to go out and drive 500 miles in a night than for the computer to be set for 30k miles and your car just jit 30500 when the ecu gets here!!! matter of fact that would be a great excuse for me just to drive around!!! i could tell my girl that i had to catch the car up to the computer !!!!!!!! damn i so smart!!!

Guys, mileage has Jack Squat! to do with getting a used Stage pcm. All you have to do is send it to Flight Systems w/ your VIN. It costs $43 and you get it back in 2 days. Then take out the old and put in the new, let the car idle for a little bit and take it for a drive, but be easy at first so everything can adjust. S1 can be installed in 15min, S2 about 1 & 1/2hr. You can find them on the forums for $250-$300 for S1 and $600-$650 for S2 w/o toys.
