SRT-4 Going to be around?
Has anyone heard any rumors or anything about how long the SRT-4 is going to be in production? Im 15, turn 16 in July and will be allowed by my parents to get a new car/truck when I am 17. I was wodering if the SRT will still be around?
zues, they are ideed, only problem is that the SRT-6 is the Crossfire, with the AMG package. Costs around 40-45K, I think. Of course, since it now loks like there will be at least three SRT-8s (Chrysler 300, Dodge Magnum, and the Dodge Charger each will get the 6.1 liter SRT motor) It's possible there will be another SRT-6 platform. Hard to say though, since after 05 there is supposed to no FWD platforms left.
This leaves nothing but platforms that can have a V-8. So, to my mind anyway, there is no reason for an SRT version of the six cylinder, since if you want more power, just get the 5.7 liter Hemi. Want still more? SRT-8. Mild to wild, no SRT-6 required. Besisdes the Crosfire, which they did becuase it was a cheap and easy way to fill out the SRT line and add some pizazz to the Crossfire.

When and where did you hear that there would be no FWD DCX vehicles after '05? I have heard of no such plans to completely eliminate the FWD platform.[sm=smiley24.gif]

Sorry guys, I was going on my own readings on Allpar and other sources, none definite enopugh to name here, with some creative interpretation on my part. One question, if all FWDs after a certain point (minivans excluded
) are based on the Lancer platform, like the old DSMs, do they count as Dodge FWDs? I don't know, but thats the key point I was excluding them. There appears to be two possible directions for both the Cloud cars and the PL chassis (neon, for the uninformed).
And of course, this all seems to be kinda floaty, given DCXs shaky realtionships with it's Asian partners, Mits and Hyun. Either all three become derivitives of the Lancer platform, or just the Neon does, with the Clouds coming from shortened LX (300, Magnum, Charger, who knows) platfoms. From what I read on Allpar, the contract with Mitsubishi to make the Stratus/Sebring ends in 05.
So, cliff notes, I spoke out of my depth, and presented as facts suppositions. My apologies folks.

No need to apologize, you made an honest mistake based on the best info available. I believe someone in a very high political office did the same thing.[sm=smiley2.gif]
