Default Nitrogen filled tires

Anyone had experience using nitrogen to pump up their tires? I came across this and just curious what the pros and cons were and how much it costs.

This is actually a question I had in automotive school.... and the basic answer is the only advantage was that the tires will stay inflated longer... I believe it was only something like 10% longer tho.... people argue that it saves you money in gas in the long run.

I race karts and we use nitrogen in the summer because of its ability to resist chaning pressure when temps raise.

It also reduces the rate at which the tire degrades from the inside out due to the lack of moisture. But most NORMAL people ware their tires out before that becomes a factor. I wouldn't waste my money on it.

very true. u would need to suck all the regular air out ur tires too because it has moisture in it. Nitrogen doesnt.. good point.

I tried it. The only change I noticed was the change I put into the machine. This was a "fad" about 10 years ago, not many places around here offer it anymore......

If you're serious into bracket racing and run slicks running nitrogen can help due to it's properties. With regular air, I've noticed that on cold slicks the air pressure can change 3 or 4 psi after the first run. So it usually takes a couple of runs to get the tire pressure somewhat stable. With nitrogen, the air pressure change is not as noticable.

But then if you're serious into bracket racing you're not going to be running a FWD, Turbo, MTX car...
