cutouts are known for leaking and failing. the motors that they use give you a one year warranty. i can almost guarantee that three days after that's up the motor will stop working. they also have a tendency to leak over time due to warping of the plate from heat, thus causing a exhaust leak. not worth the hassle. plus a number of people have shown that they are actually running SLOWER at the track even though they feel faster due to the ecu's inability to control a/f's when the cutout is opened and this causes them to run rich, killing power.

 

i felt a gain, personal prefferance though, the temp in areas affects the performance on my car, so that means alot, before i looked into this i heard all storys but still falls back on personal prefferance, i love the sound and the ability to go back and forth between sounds, others for horse power and the track mine is a daily driver.

 

Must be nice to live in the sticks, here in the chicago/milwuakee area you have to get your car emission tested every two year, for new cars, and every year for old cars. If you were to try and register the car here it would fail without a cat. My el camino didn't pass, that was just recently, damn carbs. If you are ever thinking of moving or selling the car somewhere where they have emisson testing, you will have to have the cat put back on. The plates on my el camino are null in void, and if you fail more than twice, you have to be inspected under the hood, and if they see anything that is not stock, you fail again.

 

I live in West texas and the emissions control is bad in texas even more in dallas and houston where there is more people but you still need a cat from 1983 and new vehicles, my car wont pass but most places wont get under the car to check either way. not to mention we have to get tested every year

 

So with the e-cutout, the exhaust dumps right under the car, correct? Wouldn't the exhaust fumes seep up into the cabin area? Dave - does this happen when you are cruising with it open?

hey if you get the maxxfab side exhaust..what do you do to the bumper? i wouldnt want to big holes in the back with no exhaust...new bumper? or whay?!

 

for the stock look get an 05 bumper doesnt look as bad as the 04

 

i do have an 05, still dont you guys think that looks kinda...half ***? anything else you can do?

 

i thought most 05's had the open rectangular cut out and not the two cut outs for the tips, with the two tips it would look crapy as for the full cutout rear bumper doesnt look bad,
