Default cai

Hey I just got my new K&N typhoon intake and I put it on a couple days ago and not that I am complaining but my boost has actually gone up. I was spiking around 14 or 15 and holding 12 or 13 psi now it is spiking 17 and holding 14 or15. Did anyone else have anything like that happen

I like my AEM, it matches and its good looking not to mention the hp gain. Whatever you go with, you'll get something out of it.

i have the typhoon. just so i could set it up as a sri for those not-so-nice weather months. performance gains are minmal, but it freed up some space in the engine bay. it did increase throttle response and sounds pretty nice tho

I don't see how it would cause you to hold more boost though.... That confuses me. Humor me for a second here... If the CAI is supposed to drop the temperature of the air, then wouldn't you see less boost? (Although i still don't think there is really any difference between the CAI and the SRI when it comes to intake temp, at least not by the time it passes by the turbo). Colder air is more dense, so less boost is required to make the same amount of power, so thePCM would calibrate accordingly. Also, I believe our boost gauges read backpressure, so if the pressure went up without adding any boost (i.e. boost controller / wga) wouldn't that mean that the air is hotter than it wascausing it to expand more and add pressure? I'm probably wrong, but just something to ponder over....

^very true. i honestly dont know how a cai would affect your peak boost though, other than its able to 'suck' more air into the system than the stock airbox, thereby allowing higher boost levels. but i dunno bout all that mess
