Default Finally got a Cummins!

Well hello there all.

I finally bought a Cummins about a week ago, I have wanted one since I was old enough to write stories about growing up and driving a cummins and here I am.

I got an 01 2500 4x2 with the auto. I have heard two stories about this tranny, one is that its a pos, and will give up on life at the slightest request of work, the other is that it will pull 10k no problem. I have also heard about people just leaving the overdrive on when towing, but i have a family member (eats, sleeps, and breathes Dodge) that swears thats a bad idea. So which is it?

I have already straight piped it from the resonator back, and took the silencer ring off the turbo.

Are there any things I need to be aware of for this truck?
Thanks

One more quick question; how fast is too fast with the overdrive off? Seems like 70 mph is about 3000 rpm, and thats waaay to high as far as im concerned.

My Coronet has 4.10 gears and at 70 MPH it is at 5,000 RPM.....not that this helps your situation,
