Welcome to the site. There was an article on the lean burn and how atrocious it was in Mopar Muscle a few issues ago:

I ditched the lean burn system and have an E.C.U. box....new distributor...the engine will start but sure sucks back alot of gas ( 2 1/2 gallons, in 30 minutes or so of running in driveway ) I still have to find out how to wire the key switch up to the starter relay.....anyone have a simple to follow diagram? I'm building a 49 dodge rat rod truck....I have been told the lean burn carb has to go as well.......time for a 4bbl?
any help with this would be great....I'm in deep and can't swim!!!!

Edelbrock has nice intakes and carburetors at a good price. I have them on each of my cars,
