Default cooling system / air conditioning

I have been having a problem with with 2000 Dodge Durango - for the second time in 3 weeks I have lost water. I have replaced the cap and had it checked, but nothing was found. Also, air runs cold for a few minutes then I get warm air. I don't know if the two are related or not. I took it into Midas last week thinking I may need to get the air recharged, but was told it was the expansion valve and they quoted me $586. I called a local air conditioning repair recommended by my mechanic and they quoted me $246 for the same thing. I reallly dislike mechanics who think they can overcharge a woman driver. Any ideas on what the problem could be??

Default RE: cooling system / air conditioning

I can't think how the 2 would be related. Maybe the A/C is shutting down when the car starts to overheat.

Are you seeing any water under the car overnight? When driving, does the car smoke?[&:]
