intro and thanks!
I recently purchased a 2001 Ram club cab 1500 4wd and already (before I even registered) found this forum to be a wealth of information. the truck I bought had some minor "issues", but none that seemed unreasonable considering I bought it for just over 6K and it's extremely clean with under 98K miles. I searched the forum and picked up some great tips on fixing the issues. main one was the trans cycled between 2nd and 3rd when climbing a very slight, but steady, grade. I'm a fair mechanic, but never dealt with electronic trans controls (I build older hot rods mostly). turns out the TPS was bad, and sending false info to the trans. $35.00 and problem solved. it drives great now, so "thank you". hopefully I can return the favor in the near future.
This is actually my first ever full size truck of any kind. I bought it to replace both a 2000 Blazer and an 87 Ranger work truck, so if I ever get used to the size of the Ram, compared to my old drivers, I think I'll like the Ram a lot. As well as daily driving, I also plan to use the truck a couple times a year to tow a car trailer to distant car shows and cruises. I prefer to drive the hot rods, but sometimes it just isn't practical ( like driving my bucket T in February for example ).
hope to see you on the road,
Russ
