Default New member with question

Hello! New member here. I own a 2004 QC 4x4 that's pretty stock. Live in Northwest Arkansas, lowell area. I have had my truck since 2006 and it had 24000 miles on it when I bought it, and it now has 66000. Been a good truck.

I do have one question, my truck shows that it was built in 8/03. Is it considered a early 2004 or a late 2004. The reason I ask is when I was looking at considering buying a tuner for it, I seen where someone posted about the 2003 and early 2004 having weak valve springs. How do I know if my truck is one with weak valve springs? Is there an actual cutoff date? Thanks in advance,

Lance Johnson

Welcome Aboard LJVFR! Stay tuned - a Technician (or member) will jump in shortly. FWIW - In my opinion, it sounds like an early 2004 model since they continue making 2004's through the first half of the year 2004 and yours was assembled in 2003.

Thank you for your help. Have been browsing thru the website and it looks like the favorite tuner available for my truck is the Super Chips tuner. Am I correct in this?

Welcome to DF
When parts looks up a part for a car or truck, they will use a production code. They will have a before and after dates. What you may need to find out from the company for the tuner, what are the before and after dates. Or post the PCM number and I'll be able to tell you.

The original sticker says Motorola S/N 93a0300s7tdq. On top of that sticker is another sticker that says "Authorized software update". Module p/n p56029161ab. I think the # you need is 161ab. It also has a sequence # 878050. Thanks again, Lance
