Default 3.9 carb runs rich

truck runs way too rich.....87 dakota 3.9 with carburetor any ideas as to what might b the culprit...all lines n hoses r good plugs wires cap button all good played with the mixture screws and still nothing....its not efi but is there any kinda off sensors or such i don't know about? any help would be great.....318 on the way just have to make it a few more weeks till complete

Could be o2 sensors, EGR, power valve in the carb, a vacuum leak, timing chain or plugged exhaust.

i got it to the point of a semi smooth idle now just bogs when u give it a quick shot off fuel or if jam the throttle n hold it it dies out n back fires...

That could be the timing chain causing the back fire.
