stupid transmission fluid mistake!
this guy told me that he has put dexron VI in my 1994 dodge 1500 4x2 and it's leaking so I used the same fluid until I get the chance to change the pan and gasket, come to find out, it has dexron II in it, I've only driven 80 miles but do I need to flush everything and start over? really frustrated and need advice, I put a little over one quart of VI, because when I checked it wasn't even registering on my dipstick, now the fluid is leaking worse than before! help!!!
You need a friction modifier for the tranny fluid which the ATF+4 fluid has but the Dexron doesn't have. Pick up a bottle of this http://www.lubegard.com/~/C-177/LUBE...ATF+Supplement and you'll be good to go. I personally add a bottle of this additive at every fluid/filter change and is highly recommended by my transmission guy. 75K on the clock and the tranny still shifts like new.
ended up just putting dexron III in because they don't sell dexron II apparently lol but yes I put the lucas additive or whatever and it made my tranny **** better instantly, oh and I changed the filter and gasket and it stopped leaking so far! thanks for all your help
