Default 2003 Ram 2wd hemi oil pressure problems

I have a 2003 quad cab hemi. I just purchased and had it checked out. I have a check engine light for evap emissions and low oil pressure. I start the truck and there is no oil pressure. I shut it off and the gauge goes to normal position. No ticking, but can hear a light sound similar to it. and only a light amount of white smoke here and there. I reset the CPU code for the evap, and has not returned on. Just wondering if there's a hose on top of he motor that needs replacing (it's been replaced, but not oem, and is cinching). Any ideas, please help. It has 153k miles and runs great otherwise.

I would verify oil pressure with a mechanical gauge. Find out what is REALLY going on.

What code you getting for evap? (there are a host of them....)

Welcome to DF! Be sure to check out the third gen Ram section.

Idk off hand as far as the exact code. Autozone did a check, so I think I'm going to have to have the DaimlerChrysler CPU scan code for exact. There is a small elbow hose near the evap canister that appears dry rotted. As far as oil pressure, I will have to check the actual pressure. It wierd that it sounds fine on startup, but shows no pressure on the gauge, but shutdown and restart immediately it reads normal.

Probably just a failing pressure sensor, but, I would still verify that.... engines are expensive.

Autozone scanner should give you the code. A dry rotted hose will definitely set one as well.
